Cant get my helium generators running
i have my helium generators hooked up but for whatever reason cant get the generator running

i have 3 helium extractors an have it connected to the storage, says i cant connected to generator cause there connected to storage this should be running but the generator isnt running's only solar is

how do i fix this

Build more power... You answered your own question in the first sentence you posted.

well the power generator is more than enough but only the solar is working and i have plenty of helium extractors

are they linked to the generator? (I've not used the helium powered generators only the nukes)

well idk what i done but i got it working looks like it needed a kick start of helium can anyone confiorm this?

You need enough power to run two of the basic HE-3 extractors with solar/wind power.
The generator consumes more per minute than one extractor outputs, so you need to jump start with raw HE-3 in the storage tank or with solar/wind.

You know, like how a lot of these modern windmills and turbines need diesel to start up.

What I found is that connecting it to a storage container that is also hooked to a extractor doesn't work well. What I did was put down a helium container just connected to the 3 helium generators I have. At first I had to shuttle the fuel but after I built a maintenance robot it seems to have taken care of it. Every time I have returned they are still running.

I've never tried, but do the helium generators not work directly by placing them on highlighted ground helium sources?

They don't appear to, which makes sense as the scanner just shows resources in the ground. Since generators aren't extractors they can't actually get the resources out, logically it would make sense if someone along the development line would of made an all in one machine those aren't yet in Starfield.

That seems odd since you can just place all other types of power generators without extra steps to get it working.

So, I'd need to first build a solar generator to power a helium extractor to connect to a helium supply tank.... why would I even bother doing all that when I can just slam down wind or solar and be done with it?

They do, on a Helium-3 vein source. Then you link the gas storage container to the Extractor. Then link the Generator to the Gas Storage container.

Because of saved resources and the HE-3 generators are much more efficient then the solar and wind ones. After you get enough ( maybe only need one ) HE-3 generators running properly, you can delete the other power sources and get the cost refunded.

Okay, cool. They're not so useless then

To make sure the generator does not run out of HE-3, you can link one more extractor to the storage container, if it becomes a issue. Been a while since I messed with them.

Since helium 3 is an inert gas, not flammable or explosive, how do they use a generator to get power out of it? There are theories about using it for fusion in a reactor but that doesn't seem to be what SF is going for with the generator. I can't think of any other way that they could use helium 3 for power, anyone else have a clue?

The generator is just a small scale reactor.
