Why do the properties have no windows?
I am of course referring to the ones you can buy, including the "dream home".

Vladimir's house is not only much more impressive than the Dream Home, and fully furnished and with a secret room, - it also has functional windows!

Additionally, we can literally place Outposts almost wherever we want, and they also have windows. So it's obviously nothing to do with performance or any kind of technical limitation.

WHY DON'T THE FEW PROPERTIES WE CAN BUY HAVE WINDOW?!

I'm not normally one to complain about petty things like this, but seriously... WHAT THE HELL?!

Hopefully someone mods in functional windows for all those places...

eh, we can buy houses?
450 hours and I had no clue, never even looked.
I like bases with the hydro structures as you can put furniture in those and they fully all glass walls, makes for a sweet bedroom

The properties seem to be a mixed bag.

The Mercury Tower Penthouse on Jemison has several large windows.
The Well Apartment on Jemison has two windows (Horrible view though)
The Dream Home on Jemison doesn't have windows you can actually see out of
The Midtown Apartment and Core Manor on Akila have no windows
The Luxury Suite on Neon doesn't have windows you can actually see out of
The Sleep Crate on Neon has a window in the door, which is annoying

I started with the "Dream House" trait which is why I found this out early; however there are properties to buy on Akila, New Atlantis, and Neon as well.

I know you can build outpost almost wherever you want (someone even built this MASSIVE multi-structural compound across the pond from the resort on Paradiso, which looks impressive but also goes against the entire planet's narrative). And thankfully those can all have windows (or be pretty much transparent domes like the hydro structures).

Which makes the lack of usable windows on all the other properties you can buy even more bizarre - the windows themselves actually exist but they're constantly closed and you can't open them nor look through them.

The Mercury Tower Penthouse is one of the nicest properties in the game and it's free. (Quest reward)
Also....Windows

You live in a house - with windows? Silly humans, Trillo-Bytes are for kids!!
Ok - It is late. But really. Get some Windex or a Carpenter to install the ones you want -
or sell it and move to a new location.
And - Oh, yes - I have my petty gripes too!
So in support of that...
Those blasted Dev's are mucking up my zen and I want my zen back, Now!
Happy Day my friend (cool name - MoreEvilSquid ) Happy Day!

Natural selection by Betashada:

1. You CAN craft a spacecraft
2. You CAN buy a home (some without windows..10..11..by Microshaft)
3. You CAN craft a base on a planetary surface

..but you CANNOT pee in da toilet of the fancy constallation suite in New Atlantis.

Coming up next:

4. You CAN eat stuff (beta-mode) but not process body waste.

That's survival feature version 3.2 probably announced in 2024 (rumors not confirmed - hype, hype hype!) :)

Oh seriously? Good to know, I haven't reached that one yet - nice to have at least one property to look forward to!

I don't understand why practically all the other properties are missing this.

It's such a small issue, and that's precisely what makes it so irritating...

You laugh, but there are a couple of survival mods out already... ;)

They don't have excretion of body waste included yet though, so I'll wait... (jk)....

Oh and speaking of food, it's kind of crazy the massive attention to detail they went into with most of the food items. Seriously, some of those alien dishes make me hungry looking at them. However IMO they would have been better served using that creative energy on things that matter more - especially considering that most food is just one click away from instantly being eaten for some pissweak health increase...

This is the only one I use and the windows are nice. I tried one of the houses in Akila and it was "meh" in comparison.

The answer is quite easy.

Windows are structural weaknesses...

If I were designing a home interior for Starfield, and I didn't know what the home's surroundings would be, then I might leave out the windows.

I'm confused why interior cells are being separated from the enormous exterior cells. What is gained by isolating the UC Distribution Center from the rest? Its interior transition point (door) is referenced in the same global location as the other side from the exterior. It's such a small area. Is this one of those Series S limitation things or did Bethsoft just add it unnecessarily for its outdated Bethesda "style"?

The floors of MAST, though, have the whole "interior is larger than the exterior" issue even if their entrances have the correct real world offset in the interior. The UCDC interior is the same shape as the exterior. It seems such a waste to make it a separate cell.
