Orion VS Equinox
The Orion looks badass and deal more damage compared to the Equinox, it is supposed to be a late game weapon. It look like an advanced accuracy laser weapon, but why does it have two barrels that makes it look like and shoot like a shotgun ? At least a regular shotgun shoot pellets that will hit an enemy, 4 shots fired an one enemy, only 1 will land. I am very confused what that gun is supposed to be now

Tombstone is my go to.

keep an eye of for a Legendary Rifle called Smuggler's Beowulf... as long as you have ample supply of 7.77 ammo there's no need to carry any other gun...:-)

Since the Orion gets an Advanced version and the Equinox doesn't, the Orion can have much higher damage output. Lore-wise, I imagine that the two barrels on the Orion split the energy so you don't have to worry about issues like overheating or damage to the gun. Split the energy between the two barrels and point them at an angle so they both fire at the same target in the center of the gun.

I use a lot of the Beoyulf, the 7.77 ammo is quite easy to find and the guns using that ammo are quite strong and more "accurate" in my opinion, the Beowulf is my favourite gun. I am now just looking for Advanced Equinox and modify them to compete with the Orion, because I just hate how the Orion shots just spreads

oh no way, really ? I am holding myself to a purple refined Equinox atm and just looking around for an advanced one, that would suck if it's the case

If you need an EM weapon the Equinox is better than Orion for some weird reason. But if you really only want a laser rifle with high dmg output, just use an Orion.

It sucks that all auto rifles do less dmg than semi auto rifles. It doesn't make any sense, why a bullet should do more dmg if it's shot semi auto, from the same weapon. It's completely unlogical NONSENSE. It's the same bullets, shot by the same weapon only at higher ROF. That shouldn't decrease the dmg at all.

I use Unmitigated Violence, it's pretty decent. I haven't found any better laser rifle yet.

Advanced Equinox don't exist.

Correct, there is no Advanced Equinox. In general, Equinox is full auto vs semi auto Orion. My orion dmg is around 234 per shot with ignition beams. I save it for robots and critters which seem to have low resistance to it.

Yikes. That's a completely reasonable and IMO completely necessary balancing mechanism. If a high fire rate weapon did the same damage as its semi-auto counterpart the auto would be so overpowered that it would be godlike and no fun to play.

yeah, I think semi auto or burst should just modify the accuracy and spread, but damage wise ? That is one odd way of having a sniper/marskman rifle. I think such role could use a proper model for this. (In addition of the hard target)

The real life issues with fully auto weapons is accuracy.. semi and burst are way more accurate.

The Automatic Equinox rifle ends up being the strongest laser in the game at max rank. You can stack the powerful fire dot rapidly and at considerably more range than the cutter.

Also range and wear, as the barrel heats up and warps as well.

Just to be clear though, the balancing is done for the PLAYER'S benefit, not the AI's, as there is a bug in the game still where Automatic Equinox Rifles in the hands of NPCs do not scale damage down to their normal automatic counterparts, the result is that an enemy using an Auto Equinox can basically instakill you.
