No save file will load...
I have about 100 hours logged playing this game so far and despite other people saying they have had problems with stuttering and crashing it has ran great for me, I literally can't remember anything going wrong. Then today I left my Asus Armory Crate performance overlay on while starting and loading my game because i wanted to see what my cpu/gpu temps were reaching while playing and instead of the game loading it just closed out to my desktop. Restarted, reinstalled graphics drivers, and verified game files and I can't load any saved game after turning the performance overlay off. I am assuming that the game identified it as a mod or something and messed everything up. If anyone has had the same problem please help. I will post if I find a fix.

I am almost 200h in game and every save file loads, even as mods.

But what is true that I have lag in game sometimes. I give it a wait time for maybe a minute and press ESC to get into the menu. Then back from the menu into the game again and all is fine.

Also check your installation of your steam client. It is usually NOT recommended to install Steam in /programs or /program files because Windows reserves a write protect to the folders. Then you could have save set problems.

As I also run on Asus and Nvidia, and I do NOT overclock. There is no reason in Starfield for that. This can cause trouble too.

If you didn't yet do this, try turning Steam Cloud off for Starfield. Might be the cause...

Also a good point. This mostly saves alot of trouble!

I have a few saves that are just borked. They won't load. I make a habit of creating manual saves here and there just in case this happens. And I do not use mods, so it is possible to mess a save up in the vanilla game.

Soon people will start telling you it is a feature.

Sfse and mods won’t work if they require the same version , you need to remove the dlss mod it will conflict with the patch

800+ hours into the game.
Shut it down last night.
Downloaded and installed patch this morning.
Launched game and chose my last save from last night.
Game hasn't missed a step. Performance and graphics are outstanding.
i9-12900K, RTX 3090, SSD, Windows 11

Note: I did not mess around and validate my game files or change anything.

OP if you are using SFSE you can't use this update and that always has been the case with the Script Extender and always will be. SFSE has announced they are not updating until the patch is official which should be later this month.

This from ianpatt SFSE's mod author
"My expectation is that the beta will be updated frequently, so I'm currently thinking no. Bethesda will want reports from an unmodded environment, anyway."

Thank you Grollwerk, Vlad 254, pike, suicidal_godot, and ZombieHunter. I tried a mix of all your recommendations. I ended up loading the closest save I could then did a manual save and quick save. Then went back to save I wanted to load in the first place and it worked so I really don't know what fixed it but TY TY all.
