Have there been changes to the HDR? I didn't see anything about this. Unless you have heard something specific, you can probably assume that it is exactly as it was at launch.

Have you run the Windows HDR Calibration tool? If not, you'll want to do that to alleviate the Windows HDR foo.

Yeah the beta branch added a HDR brightness slider if HDR is turned on your PC, so it looks like HDR has been officially added.

Much better, but Starfield's beige/grey haze is still the main problem. There is a much better (deeper) color balance with darker areas and mids being more saturated and defined, but the highlights are at the same level and not boosted. (Thank goodness) The really dark areas still hover well above true black, which I haven't seen anywhere in the game except the opening menu.

May have to take alook myself as some parts looked good but the colour was well off and wanted true blacks now but if it's still not showing that then it's leaving a lot of fans unhappy as caves were so grey it looked horrible

Just tried the HDR in the beta branch and I really can't stress enough how laughably bad it is compared to the Luma HDR mod. Zero contrast, zero pop to the highlights, zero depth to the blacks. If HDR is your thing, use the mod!

Ok... thanks for the info. I didn't know about that.

Oh yikes. The luma mod over-darkens things like crazy. It's more of a contrast mod than actual hdr. I get that it's one approach, but I think it looks really awful and you lose a crap ton of detail. True black should exist, but it should barely be there, not constantly visible somewhere on screen. HDR is about actual dynamic range, not just blacks and whites, but mostly in the middle with blacks and highlights acting as a wider set reference for everything else.

Are you talking about the Reshade mod or the HDR mod? Because the contrast is 100% user adjustable in the HDR one. And you very much can set a dynamic range with it as it lets you adjust both peak brightness and paper white, unlike this patch which just has some non-specific "brightness" slider.

Luma lets you customize a lot of things about the look, you can basically keep the vanilla image if you disable all adjustments. If you disable gamma correction and LUTs correction you will raise shadow for example.

the blacks are washed out for sure, playing on a 4k OLED tv and the blacks look awful, they look more light gray than black, reminds me of backlight bleed on an LCD display.

It seems there's no HDR on Win 10. They dont have the technology. XD

Added the ability to adjust HDR Brightness provided that the system supports it. (Xbox & Windows 11 only).

no its win11 only, probably the only reason why is because xbox/microsoft wants you to upgrade to win11.
