Simple question: Does the Ballistics Skill cover the use of ShotGuns... and does it Stack with the ShotGun Skill?

Advanced Thanx!!!

If it's a ballistic shotgun, big bang benefits from ballistics lasers and particle beams i think. If you mod the weapon to have EM damage then incapacitation should increase it's damage. The way I think of it is ballistic = physical damage, lasers = energy damage, EM = other. The gun will do one or multiple of those damage types. This is what seems to work for me, I could be mistaken.

Keep in mind this might be unintentional. The Laser skill works on particle weapons but Ballistics doesn't. At least one of them is bugged. I don't see a reason why more than two should stack. Weapon skills should always work with one damage type skill though. So Ballistics + Shotgun skill does and should always stack even after the devs patched it.

You can easily test it yourself if you have one skill point to spend. Save, select the ballistic skill and see if it will increase the damage of the shotgun.

Ballistics skill affects ballistics shotguns. Shotguns skill affects all shotguns.

Basically, every weapon is two types. Damage type (ballistics, laser, and particle) and weapon type (pistol, shotgun, heavy, etc). The damage type skill stacks with the weapon type skill if the weapon fits both profiles.

As StormhawkV pointed out, the laser skill affecting particle weapons seems like a bug.

Yes the weapon damage type skills stack and if the weapon has that damage type it applies as well so particle weapons benefit from the particle skill for plus 30% damage, but because they have both laser and ballistic damage they benefit from both damage skills for another 60% then they benefit from the rifle or pistol skill depending on the weapon for another 30% and isolation for another 40% and well you end up with a gun that can end everything, due to getting 160% damage which will stack with the 65% extra damage from one inch punch so a total of 225% damage.

But with how the modifiers interact it ends up giving you around 260% extra damage. I don't think this was intended as that ballistic and lasers should only affect weapons with just that damage type only so that the particle skill only affects particle weapons but literally every skill is bugged in some way at the moment with skills that can stack with yours like ones that affect your ship can completely break your game.

I took your advice... and Glad I did; Good on You Mate. Both Ballistics and ShotGun Certification increased the damaged of my ShotGun... however... they did not Stack. I actually save my Skills points until I'm sure I know where I Need/Want them; so I currently have 4 Skills point available.

With Neither Ballistics nor ShotGun Cert. skill my ShotGun hit for 3 to 4 Damage (Against Andreja; so I know I'm hitting the same target with each test). When I took either Skill (Ballistics or ShotGun Cert.) my damaged increased to 5 Damage; but when I added the other skill my damage did not increase.

So... Perhaps they are Suppose to Stack, but from my test they did not. Also Note: Just to ensure I was using a Weapon that is being affected by those 2 skills, I also killed Animals, and with each kill both the Ballistics and ShotGun Cert. Requirements were being fulfilled.

They do stack, but if you are looking at low values like 3-4 then that is going to be hard to see a difference.
Put the slug mod on a shotgun so it is easier to see a difference if testing without console commands (which show decimals) on very low damage/projectile shotguns.

Okay... I'll give it a go; I need to get some materials to change to Slugs; but I'll test when I can. As well... I do have the option Turned On for Floating Damage; but I'm not taking any chances with Console Commands until I've done, at least, 2 play throughs: in hopes of obtaining all Achievements :).

You were Right on the Money... I'm not using Slugs, but nor am I using Felchettes, and now I'm seeing a difference; from 20 to 22 to 24; and Note... that's about 6 to 8 of each - it's a Devastating Weapon :) Woot! :)

Thanx Mate... Good Looking Out!!!

many skills double over depending on ammo type etc.
