Please Bethesda explain me this AMAZING LOGIC
so let me get this right you have to keep materials on ship cargo or on yourself for it to use them for workbenches from anywhere BUT if you store all your materials in the lodge in your personal container and in the lodge are all workbenches you need it doesnt count....HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUH?

Use the box right next to the weapon workbench. I did it this way for awhile. Put all mats in personal inventory. Do workbench stuff. Dump it all back into the box when done.

Bethesda is not reading the forum in case you didn’t know.

Amazing, isn't it? Unlimited storeroom but everytime you want to craft you either have to take everything out of the container overencumbering yourself like mad or collect the necessary materials among hundreds of entries for minutes.

It's very easy to understand. If the unlimited storage container worked the same as your cargo on your ship, you would feel no need to increase your cargo on your ship. :P

I do not feel like it is a issue at all. Those who do, should look for a mod.

Its easier to have a ship with lots of cargo capacity. I've done all the upgrading, outpost networks, etc. I haven't needed more than 6000 (6k) in cargo mass.

It's amazing someone would be concerned about being over encumbered when the amount of distance you have to cover in that situation means nothing at ll. I can't think of any crafting modification to armor or weapons, which require that large of mats to carry.

Yep. My Battle Cruiser ship, which is very effective in combat, playing on Hard level, has 9000 cargo space. I don't see myself ever needing more than that.

I'm moving in that direction. It makes sense. I built a very nice warehouse base on Kurtz. I go there to craft any/all things because that's where the mats are. But I still have a buttload of stuff in the infinity-case in the lodge. I've got 3k cargo space now, but somehow that feels too small.

That's why I mentioned the box in the lodge workshop. There's no travel involved. At one point I carried over 4k. But the biggest factor that convinced me to use the ship cargo was how the vendors only know about mats in inventory and in ship's cargo. That greatly simplifies restocking at the vendors. I can see exactly what mats I'm low on.

I'm finding that my 2400 whatever cargo cap on my ship will suffice for the time being. However I agree that the logic is escaped me a bit but reading what wtiger27 says seems to make sense. Ok so the devs want us to manage inventory, fair enough, but why that and not fuel?

The game designed originally was to have fuel limits. But they felt that running out of fuel in space, would only result in a char being stuck there. So they removed it. It does count toward the distance one can jump each time. But it could be added as one the different things in Survival mode.

And even those few meters will fully drain your health when there's 20k in the box. Yes you won't die and it's still possible to play but it's insanely stupid that it works on your ship but not in the lodge. If you don't want to take everything out of the box which is really fast thanks to the hotkey you have to search the materials manually from the list which is an incredible waste of time.

I am not concerned with the time. I have no time issues using the Ship's cargo. Like I said, if one is concerned about it, I am sure there are mods which will give you tons of cargo space on your ship.

I have seen screen shots of players showing off their ship, when it shows it having some ridiculous amount. That may be also from a console command.

The OP should go to Beth's website and post his concern. I don't think they show much interests in reading the threads on Steam.

They do not read here at all but all of this is no excuse not to have the same mechanics for the lodge.

Doesn't need an excuse, it was designed that way and is in no way bothersome.

An unlimited storage for things you don't ever need but are collecting is a nice thing to have separate from the linked ship storage.

But there are mods available if that's something you would use.
