Using Powers
So... I've achieved a few powers, put them in favorite (numbered) slots and... Nothing seems to be happening. Do I need to hold the button down or something? Help! Thanks -

idk about favoring them but you can select one and hit z? at least that's the default without controller

Number slots are just selectors. You need to press the "power" keybind to use them.

Select one of the powers from the field on the screen. On the PC, when no menus are showing and you are in normal gamplay mode, you can press the favourites button that you assigned it to and then you need to press the Z keys to activate it. As BlackIce said.

One thing I want to know is can you assign the use essence ability to a quick key? It's really annoying to have to hit tab, go to the powers screen and then press the R key while you are in the middle of combat.

You don't have to do that. Bring up the Powers menu with all the powers listed and click on one to make it active. Like myself, I did 10x NG+ runs to get Phased Time to level X. So when I am in combat, all I need to do is tap the Z key to launch Phased Time. And at level X, that power only uses 18 power. Can launch it 3 times, min. and still be in combat.

But if you want to have multiple ones available, then assigning them to a quick slot would work. But I keep it simple. Only one which is always active. If I need to use any others ( very rarely ) then I press R and make the one active when I want to. But right afterwards, I go and make Phased Time my active one again.

Yeah, that's what I meant about the select the power from the field, you worded it more clearly though.

I usually assign gather all mineral resources (Elemental Pull) to 7, gather all organic resources (Eternal Harvest) to 8 and the main power I'm using at the time to 9. More often than not it's Particle Beam or Reactive Shield.

Ok everyone, I see the problem. This Irishman (me) is just pretty thick. So once the power is selected, hit the "Z" key. Not feeling mentally spectacular, but grateful.

Thanks all-
