My advice is to position yourself on edge and whatever type you land on, head in the direction of the other type on the map. If you find a vein try following it out towards your direction of travel. Its how I tend to find them myself.
My advice is a little different: if you can't find what you want here, look at another planet(s). There is no need to insist on al/fe together, instead, why not grab fe/ni and al/he3 each with some nice third on 2 different planets? Al/cu often ride a line. Fe/ni is not uncommon. I also advise AT LEAST 1 point in ship scanner skill before bothering with mining outposts. 2 points is about right; that will net you everything you need for a very long time, but 1 point is enough to get started.
He is recommending just doing 2 outposts and dumping the materials from one to the other. You can do this extensively so that your main outpost has all the stuff from all the others, or not at all. I prefer not at all: its a lot of complicated hand waving to get that running smoothly and personally all I want is a large (100 units or so) top off of 10 or so key elements used in suit/weapon mods.
If you just want power leveling bulk, this seems like the easy way out.
For materials in 2 different groups you need to land on the edge where the biomes that have each touch.
You need to get a map that has both biomes in it (this doesn't always happen), and then look along the tiny strip on land on that map where the biomes touch.
If either of the biomes is not colored in the resource scan at the spot where you landed, then it will be hard to find a good spot with both.
For Aluminum & Iron & Beryllium & Helium-3 I made a base on Andraphon (Narion System, it is where you start the game).
In the north where the Helium-3 area touches the Iron area (Craters border with mountains that is colored on both sides in the resource scan).
It is very obvious where the biome edge is here (craters is kind of reddish, mountains gray).
Edit - I just looked on my game and the planet I was talking about was Serpentis V-d.
H2O, He-3, Al, Ni, Fe, Be, Co, and HnCn.
No offense, but level 98 after no more than 200+ hrs? My char is level 87 and I am approaching 500 hrs. Seems like your main goal is more about leveling than doing the ton of content the game offers. But hey, you be you if that is how you enjoy the game.
But on topic, it is not easy to find two resources you can harvest on one Outpost. They can be found, but it takes a lot of time finding them. Like exploring different planets. Also having all the points in scanning, does help.
