Good place to shoot (farm) low level enemy ships?
This "B-license" thingy requires 15 blown up ships.

My cargo vessel has some good weapons, but is far to bulky
for serious space battles (also, these ship fights p*ss me off;
I don't have patience for this shice).

Does anyone know a good place to farm ship kills?

the fastest way is UC simulator, used in joining the UC at mast in new atlantis.
if you want real ships, the mission board in the hotels and similar areas will point to them: they are always on par with your level, or maybe, with the level the kiosk was on for the job (unclear?).

You don't even have to join the UC. If you don't like them, you can still take their combat test in the sim then say no or just ignore moving forward with officially joining.

The UC Vanguard Simulator. There's no risk of dying and it works to increase your Piloting skill to get a better class of ship. It doesn't help with Ship Command though because you have no crew.

The target system of the battle will determine the difficulty of the opponents. As jonnin suggests, the UC simulator is the safest way to farm ship kills.

nothing to add. UC simulator.

The Vanguard flight simulator.

Talk to the Vanguard recruiter to the left as you enter MAST. Tell him you want to join. He'll send you down the elevator to join up at the terminals. Then you go out the door to the historical displays (you push the buttons to hear the story or not), then at the end of that display hall is the door to the simulators. You don't have to win every level, but every ship you kill counts as a kill. When defeat ends the simulation, exit the simulator. Then go bank in and start again. Repeat until you have your 15 kills. It only takes 3 levels to get 5 kills, so 3 times will do. Then train for piloting B-class ships. Go bank into the simulator and do the next level of ship kills for C-class piloting.

You don't have to go any further with Vanguard if you don't with to do so.

Serpentis.

Use turrets if you want, plenty of B grade ones are good enough.

Just work your way round from planet/moon to the next one, each one should spawn a variety of enemy from 1 to 4, including Starborn occasionally.

More fun than the simulator.

I still cannot believe this; the simulator's results count? Lol.
Will try, thx!

Yeah the simulator is the easiest way to cheese it.
Just been there, the elevator says that the access is limited.
What do I need to do?

Join the UC Vanguard. You don't have to complete the faction quest, the simulator becomes available early on.
Okay, got it.
Missed that I need to register at one of the terminals.

I find targeting makes ship battles easier. My objective is usually to disable engines to then dock and board ship within 500m (when ready, the game will show an option to hold R to Dock). You can clear the crew, loot the captain's locker and cargo, grab the contraband that's usually onboard, then get back into your own ship without sitting in the enemy's pilot seat. That ship will be disabled the rest of the fight. Sometimes in a hard battle I use the targeting to temporarily disable multiple ships' weapons, then can pull off boarding them or at worst shooting them apart one by one. The ships that you've boarded and cleared will be stationary and once the fighting stops you can blow them up at your own pace, all for credit toward the piloting skill. I got piloting 4 maybe level 15 first playthrough this way, just jumping planet to moon and scanning each one individually in level 1-5 systems.

If you go with using turrets get the ones with the longest range over dps. Longer range means they will be shooting bad guys before they are close enough to shoot you.

The UC flight simulator is what I use.
