Keep in mind if you wait on your ship in orbit, it's going off of UT time, so it may take a longer or shorter time to rotate the planet. For example, I hat to wait on my ship for a total of around 60 hours once to get the place I wanted to land into morning.

thats actually realistic, most solar systems start out with planets all in a plane and spinning the same direction
our solar system has 2 exceptions where the axis and/or rotation is out of kilter - scientists believe thats a result of collisions

I know NMS had that before release and they removed it because it "confused players" when things weren't in the same spot all the time, but I guess I'm not "most players". In Starfield, that's a non-issue, seeing as you don't manually fly "to" other planets anyway.
