You mean it is stuck there after each time you launch the game and can not close it when you want to quit?

This happens to me once in a while as well.
I've found that if I click the little "Starting Game: Starfield" box that Steam throws up on launch, to make that the active window, as the game is launching, then it doesn't happen.

Someone on reddit also posted this as a possible solution, but it's more tedious than what I do, so I haven't tried it.
For me it works when i start the .exe from the game directory, but only when i use enter on my keyboard and not a mouseclick… dont ask my why, its hella strange

There's a alleged fix that involves an edit of the StarfieldPrefs.ini files that I have seen as well, which involves adding these lines to that ini file:
[Display] bBorderless=0 iLocation Y=0 iLocation X=0

I haven't tried that one either, but I wanted my response to be comprehensive.

Stuck in taskbar when you quit or when you launch?
Use TaskManager and kill it.

I'm pretty sure what he means is that the game starts minimized, and you can't expand it to actually play. A lot of people have experienced that problem. Including myself, though for me it's only every once in a while.

Ahh. Never had that happen. I did once, have it get stuck at a loading screen in space. Let it run like that for about 5 mins, then just opened Task Manager and stopped the task.
Reloaded the game and it worked fine.

I assumed it was related to SFSE Loader. I never had the issue until I started using that.

It's not a huge deal, easy to work around.

When it happens to me, alt-tab doesn't work. Nor does the windows key+tab work. Nor does running a bat file to try to force the window to have focus. The only solution is to actually kill the Starfield.exe task and relaunch it.

The game is still running ever after your reboot? Is not possible. Doesn't make sense. Something is wrong with your computer, it's not Todd.
