Although it's a bitter pill to swallow and doesn't excuse the bug's existence you'd have lost everything in NG+ anyways.
Regarding that... once your are Starborn you can bypass that entire encounter. I haven't lost a member of Constellation for the previous 50 NG+'s

Although to be honest the suit isn't that good because it eats all three armor slots and the ships are ... meh.
Well if this glitch is exclusive to New Atlantis then it's not so bad once you know about it (I didnt). I'm just worried about any other place I build up doing the same thing. You never know with Bethesda
