Sudden Audio cuts/desyncs and lag
after 200 hours of smooth playing (not a single crash lag or framedropp) i suddenly, since yesterday get some fu***up sound lags/desyncs and general freezes...it realy f*** with me.
Before any1 asks, yes, the game is on a ssd, always was.
I tried pretty much all i can think of...verified gamefiles, made a clean driver reinstall, forced starfield shader rebuild...nothing, like wtf is going on....plz some1 help.

Edit: (forgot to mention) After clean nvidia drivers reinstall i removed all existing saves before booting up the game and after shader build it did seem like everything was fixed...however when i copied my saves back in, all the problems came back... so i thought somethings up with my saves, so i deleted them again but this time the issue still remained...am i missing something?

Edit: FIXED i endedup reinstalling my whole system...windows, drivers, everything...seems fixed now however, while booting up the game for the first time after the purge i noticed small audio stutters while the game was building shaders, very similar cuts i had ingame although not so penetrating...so from what i can say, there is explicitly a problem within game engine while "building shaders"...sometimes the process starts even when not showing up and even while ingame...from what i understand its not supposed to, thers multiple exceptions: update or a patch from bethesda, game reinstallation or video driver update (not allways though)...so everytime theres an update from bethesda the game will build shaders.
I think in my case the game was building shaders much more friquentley and "undercover", causing all sorts of sh** getting messedup...i hope none of you boys and girls will have to go through the same sh*** like me and i hope bethasda fixes their fu*** engine.

Edit: doing a clean game reinstall to see if it gets fixed

Update your BIOS and sound drivers if you have not done so recently. Windows changed the audio layer a few patches ago and it requires an updated BIOS to work properly, particularly if you have a Realtek device.

Sudden audio lagging and major audio stutters are some of the symptoms.

Thx ill try asap...but could bios drivers realy cause desync and lag?...and like 2 min loading times, when yesterday it all was fine...no matter the location i was getting 3 sec loadings at most.

You seem to have done everything I would have done except deleting/ cleaning up some older saves. And *maybe* remove everything in %documents/my games/starfield (EXCEPT the [saves] folder.

its all crazy to me tbh...i cant find a connection at all...yesterday everything was fine...was there some undercover updates from bethesda or driver auto installation or some sh** that could mess things up...im not a pro, all i can see is since yesterday my game runs on audio cuts/lags/desyncs sterroids and that seems to f**up my loading times aswell and the first couple of shots from a weapon seem to glitch the visuals out as well for a sec, all while i get 60 fps (capped ofc)

checked my realtek drivers, it says i got the newest version...the only thing left is update bios like good sir AoD_lexandro mentioned...and tbh im kinda scared to mess with bios setup. Scanned the net for ppl with similar issues but most of them are related to their game being installed on a hhd (which is surprising to me considering we have 2023) clearly its not the problem in my case.

How big is your Savegame Folder?
Garam Oct 25, 2023 @ 8:00am
around 35 mb...as a long time bethesda games dude i generaly try and keep it low in that regard

Ow. Maybe disable the steam overlay?

Then it happens i usually exit the game and reload different savefile. That helps

Needless to say, im pretty sure this is starfield specific problem, as all of my other hardware hungry games run perfect...so i guess it cant be driver related sh***. Something is wrong on bethesda end...and that something happened, at least for me specifically, yesterday.

so you mean this specific issue happened to you and you got rid of it by reloading an older save? if thats true bethesda fu***realy hard on that one, that means they have some sort of memory cap on a specific save file count...for example i have a manual save file which was overwritten 47 times, its my least one...all others are higher then that cuz i try and keep the save count low...and that actually would make some sense cuz i noticed a texture load delay, kinda (how we know it from unreal engine).

Well maybe yes. But yesterday was also a Tuesday meaning MS update might have fcked something up. ( .NET 6.0.24 Security Update (KB5032874). Wouldn't be the first time a MS update caused problems but then you probably wouldn't be the only one... Not really helpful, see it as a bump ;)

Its Bethesda game you gotta be ready for anything. Also keep as many save files as you can.

But then again...at some point of my troubleshooting i totaly got rid of all saves, by that i mean the starfield folder in my documents, not just the save folder...and stil got those weird sound cuts, like, in the fu*** menu not even ingame.
