Razorleaf - Do Pirates always run?
I'm planning to build a complete new ship using my Razorleaf, which I didn't use at all yet as base.

Question is, do pirates always run from the Razorleaf or is that just a rare random encounter? Because I want to actually fight and destroy pirates with said ship.

What's your experience with the Razorleaf in this regard?

Thanks.

More often than not, they run. If you have the 'wanted' trait, the bounty hunters will on occasion as well. I completely deleted every part of the Razorleaf, built an entirely new ship, renamed it, and folks STILL called it the Razorleaf, and pirates/bounty hunters would still run on a regular basis. I had to go find myself a crimson fleet ghost that was easy to take, rebuild THAT, to avoid that particular scenario.

Early game, my first run through I loved it when the pirates ran away because I wasn't that good at starship battles. But now I really want them to stick around. It would be interesting to use the Razerleaf as the source of a total rebuild and the challenge would be to kill them before they ran. Hmmm.

Good to know. This probably makes the Razorleaf the perfect candidate to build a big lumbering cargo ship.

Yup, and you even get some extra dialog here and there Mantis related.
As long as you build and fly under the Razorleaf flag. Best ship to have. 😁

Just remember to get all of the Ship Skills you want before using the Razorleaf. You will have more to fight not using it.

I love that ship because of this. Does not look anything like the original, now it's a monster that looks like a bullfrog dinosaur. And no they don't always run, but even if they try to I can stop at least a couple of them before they spin up their drives.

No problem, I have other ships. I'm just trying to find a use for my Razorleaf, but if pirates always flee, this makes it pretty useless as base for a combat ship. The feature would be cool, if it happened occasionally, like 10% of the time, but not if they always run.

Funnily this makes the most feared combat ship the perfect basis for a ship you don't want to do combat in. :steamfacepalm:

Keep in mind, they don't always run. I don't remember any Crimson Fleet ships running away for one example. if you don't want to fight any Pirate ships, the best strategy is to have a lot of power allocated to the Grav drive and getting the hell out of Dodge.

What the hell is a "Razorleaf" and why isn't there an achievement related to it?

If they run or not does kinda depend on the situation. Most story or mission based still stick around to fight. The running away ones are really more of the "random encounter" types. How many you get is also pretty much random.

Mantis mission. Razorleaf is the Mantis ship and you get it at the end of that mission.

No, but the run quite often. Too often for my taste, so I eventually stopped flying that ship.

The complete rebuild doesn't in any way break or hamper that ... sudden jump mobility increase tendency.
Do not delete or replace those fugly boxy DT 50 engines, you need to have Rank three in a rank three skill to regain access to those

It can also impede your skill progress when you want to unlock the next level of some skills, some of which require a certain damage / dmg taken / number of kills.

Hmm, I'd have to use the Razorleaf more to have a better sample size....but seems Pirates not so much, but Spacers turn tail quickly.

Oh, when attacking a bount ship from the mission boards, those do not run. Neither do Bounty Hunters you encounter if you chose the "Wanted" trait.
