Production is based on universal time, not local time. Some planets/ moons have different local times. The ratio can be quite extreme. My main storage is on Venus because of the 1 to 100 ratio. This means every hour waited on Venus is 100 UT hours x 30 aluminum per minute x 60 minutes to convert to hours. This is... a lot of aluminum if I actually needed that much. I can usually wait just 1 or 2 hours and max out my storage when I need to craft.

Crafting grants xp per item crafted, and you can easily spam out thousands of items. You can automate it to a degree with an auto typer so you can go grab lunch or something. 30 minutes of adaptive frame spam is 50+ levels for me. Even now that I'm at level 157 I can still easily gain another 50 if I needed skill points.

Thank you very much for this.

For those not aware yet, Venus is in the Sol system. The in game representation of the real life Venus (and our solar system in general). The Constellation and Vanguard quest chains have you visit the system so you'll find it eventually (Sol is to the left of Alpha Centauri).

Obviously, make sure you have thermal protection and some burn healing aid if you intend to actually explore the planet, unless you of a high enough level/ skill to not be bothered by environmental damage.

Ammo weighs nothing, so grab all you find doing missions and killing random enemies and opening boxes. You can rack up a lot of credits that way too.

Find a planet/moon with iron and aluminum. Build outpost with large storage tower for each. Sleep a full cycle on a long sleep cycle planet such as Venus. Sleep until storage towers full.
Make adaptive frames until your cargo is full, easier with a macro. Find vendor with a larger wallet and a chair/couch to 'wait' until wallet refills. Sell away. Rinse/repeat, enlarge storage towers as needed. Also good for xp farming.

Money becomes fairly pointless pretty quickly in Starfield even without $$/xp farming. Especially once you're into ng+. Once you have a decent ship with decent cargo space you're pretty much done. Other than buying ammo/med paks/digipicks (which you don't need to buy anymore by midgame) the vendors quickly become useless other than as a place to dump loot. The good weapons and armor will be free in loot or from the storyline. Eventually you won't even bother with most looting, only taking rares.

The economy system in Starfield needs some work.

Take Terminal Pirate Bounty Ground Missions.
Kill everyone and loot all bodies and containers.
Modify as many weapons and armor pieces as you can (to raise skill and price).
Sell everything.
Repeat.

You can also take Terminal Pirate Bounty Space Missions and acquire enemy ships and sell them.

Or you can do the boring Story Missions

sell drugs and contraband at wolf station = most money
You get better prices at the Key and 5 vendors + trade authority next to each other. If you do a certain mission that removes this option then Wolf is next best location, imo.

i loot and sell. neon is good for a nice sum every now and then from contraband - void form and loot the jail, then run up to trade and sell it ... run around and do that at other cities too. one-of-a-kin has elliptic camp that always has contraband - i get anywhere from 4 to over 15 there sometimes. but loot and sell gets me more. i'm ng 10 now, took me abt 2 hours to be over 400k, now I don't really need a lot ... so i just accumulates
I stole a ship - a prophecy 2, upgraded it ...I don't buy ships.
imo, credits are plentiful. take ships and their contraband. sell them.
