Startfield Rank 20th in global sales, BG3 4th
As of today those are the numbers. Incredible considering BG3 came out weeks before. 600m in 1yr, please....

Such a good game especially compared to starfield. Atleast Larian studios work to fix their mistakes meanwhile bethesda just continues to try and sell merchandise and not fix their game.

Let's say 3mil sold on steam, 2 mill Xbox/ms PC so in total about 5 mill sold (that's a very optimistic count IMO) and the average sales price of 50usd (rough average number accounting for global sales prices) that's 250mil-300mil with all the initial sales hype washed up, I'd say the large majority of relatively active steam users have seen starfield and decided to keep scrolling of buy at this point. The other half or so of that 600mil is going to be a slog, let alone 1 billion

Notes: if you look here you can see the difference in pricing based on region, for example it costs 43usd in south asia https://steamdb.info/app/1716740/

you don't need a public profile to say that Starfield was overhyped crap

you don't need a public profile to say that Starfield is garbage

or to learn and avoid spending money in something that devs wont care to fix

right? larion actually puts there hard work and money back into the game while todd will pockets most of sf's profits towards his new yacht and will let sf be a forever stinker.

Let's get real optimistic and say 7 million copies of those 10mil explorers were sold at an average of 45usd, that's 315mil, 7 mil @ 50usd a piece is 350mil, anyway you slice it, its kinda a flop, unless it can really pickup its sales momentum.

I'm expecting $500mill to break even based on some sketchy production and sales budgets, but it does sound reasonable and most companies obviously do look to break even in the first year.

Well, he is not wrong about Bethesda not fixing the game, Larina studios do more patch often based of many player feed back but bethesda do not much fixing on based of player feedback in past, in very limited to none. look in history of skyrim, morrowind, all they do is they are done with development game, then abandon it, not improve/rework/not much bug fix after that. They soon abandon once game come out, and move on to new game, rather than improve game, Look at no man's sky or cyberpunk 2077's team, they do improve, rework many major patch here and there number of time, this is good example but Bethesda don't do this like that on based of player feedback, more or less, but that is said,
I do enjoy starfield much more than baldur's gate 3 (30 hours, I felt it's not fun so I uninstalled it) vs starfield (over 300 hours, and still keep playing)

Still I do wish Bethesda rework/improve patch of gameplay like ship build or make outpost more alive, plus bug fix here and there with auto save issues.

Not saying the person is wrong either, but when the first 24 of the 35 pages of comments are nothing but BGS Bashing in Starfield...

Just checked starfield has been out for a month now, bg3 two months

It's a real shame since with BG3 i was able to sort out the crashes within act 1, and with starfield the crashes just keep coming.

Diablo 4, 666 million in 5 days. Hold my beer.

And I wonder if that 600 mil includes the over two years in sales from when it was in beta..... And STILL wasn't finished when it was released because Act 3 was nothing but a buggy cluster ♥♥♥♥.

666 in 5 days > 600 mil in 3 years

No matter how you compare it or how much you hate it, Starfield was/is successful.
