However many of the systems in the place feel half-baked and this could have been an EXCELLENT game, which sadly did not happen...
That said I still got 185ish hours out of it so far...
And since that's all I expected (not "ZOMG GOTY!"), I'm fine with it. /shrug
It is a decent game. It's like going to a chain restaurant. It's not striving to be great, but just be good enough. Although the system requirements, price, and hype tell a different story.
There's a lot to be critical about in the game, but it runs fine and it's enjoyable enough for at least one playthrough.
I don't see all the hate as I've blocked everyone who is moaning about a game that they don't own or play. If they come here to make valid points, that's fine, but most can't do that, they give no developmental feedback they just moan, whine and criticise a game they have never played, so it's purely hearsay.
And why are they even here? What's their purpose? They have sad, empty lives, that's why.
Criticising it is fine, even very important actually, but a lot of people here seem to be very obsessed with just hating on it rather than giving unbiased reviews that aren't based off emotions or wanting attention. There's a difference between a genuine negative review that still actually lists what's up with a game and says how it should be fixed and multiple posts in a row complaining that female NPCs "aren't hot enough" and how terrible the game is...while constantly visiting this discussion board and talking about it. They hate it so much they think about it constantly.
I went in mostly blind actually, so maybe that helped me to like it too. I didn't raise my expectations, nor did I expect it to be Skyrim 2 or Fallout 5. I just though "oh, a Bethesda game in Space? This should be interesting". It's definitely not as good as their other games but it's still pretty decent. I also don't think it's supposed to be like Fallout or Skyrim anyway, so of course it's different. I absolutely love Skyrim too but I've learnt to not raise my expectations and compare an upcoming game to other games before it even comes out. If you do that, then of course you're probably gonna be disappointed.
And yeah, I agree. After kicking the culture-war grandstanding to the curb, it's 'fine'. Fairly smooth in my experience as Bethesda launches go, improved action-gameplay over previous games as a plus, borked in-game economy and incentive-systems that basically waste several features (like outpost-building) as a minus, generally 'meh-at-best' narrative presentation...
Overall, I got my money's worth on the first run and I'm not upset about buying it but there's a lot that could stand to be fleshed out/rebalanced/improved with mods and DLC.
