Aluminum, seriously?
Haven't gotten to the game yet myself, just saw it on a stream:
First I thought "Aluminum" might be some form of weird space ressource, but then I saw the chemical sign Al. Please tell me that this has already been fixed.
Please don't tell me that you failed to spell a basic metal wrong, in a SCIENCE fiction game.

The word is separate because it is not an English language word, it is an element as named by IUPAC.
It's not the same as color and colour, words which vary greatly from language to language, aluminium is aluminium, just like helium is helium or neon is neon.
IUPAC prediodic table found just by googling it.

- 'Aluminum' and 'cesium' are commonly used alternative spellings for 'aluminium' and 'caesium'.

You might not have seen my edit, I'll paste it here:

We're talking about an element, which is called aluminium in every chemistry classroom and lab in the world except for in the US.

It's like saying Metric vs Imperial is a UK vs US issue.
but .... helium in spanish is helio

they didnt change the Symbol, they changed the Spelled element

and frankly its a freakin SC-FI game - this whole Debate is just nonsense to start with
have fun with your science patrol or what every the heck your doing im out

This game must be really good if this is the whine some people choose to spend their time on. Good to hear!

To your information, the word is not British, it's Latin, and the entire rest of the world says Aluminium. And if your argument is "but it's an American game", then you already know what you can go and do.
Have a nice day.

Way to commit to willful ignorance. Doubling-down instead of recognizing your mistake is in the finest tradition of Donald Drumpf. Ironically, *very* American.🤪

“I *LOVE* the poorly educated!”

As I said, classroom or lab.
Helio is the common day to day usage for the word in Spanish, if you work in a lab you'll be expected to use IUPAC naming in your documentation.

USA is superior to all other countries, so it's Aluminum. Deal with it. You'd be part of Germany if the US didn't decide to keep you around.

And yet scientific papers still get published using aliminum.

It isn't the only word that is spelled different between USA and UK. Color is another one. And there are more. I'm not sure when the US started to change British words into their own versions. But we aren't the only ones. Australians and Brits also have not only different spellings but different words for the same thing. I was on a team long ago that had a Brit and an Aussie on it and to hear them bicker back and forth over their differences in what they called things was quite comical.

Doesn't even just happen in english. I had a french teacher point out that quebec was more french than the french (they made words for stuff that the french just adapted the english words for because they refused to have anything even look similar to an english word).

Different areas of the world even if they speak the same language will get different dialects. Hell, even within the US we get different dialects and people using words differently (I keep ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ at my husband to stop using Coke for a generic soda... and then some one will say it's pop, not soda, or soda-pop <- soda is a very good example of different dialects of the same language within different areas of a country).

China has I think 5 different dialects of chinese within their country (large countries tend to do this).

Harbour in the US is Harbor

A lot of words across the pond lack the U found in the same words in the UK

That's the joke
