Your Weapon Choice(s) and Why?
Originally I thought about a melee-oriented character spec'd out in hand-to-hand, but the ability to quickly switch to unarmed to make use of the boxing skill kinda killed that. Then I thought about pistols...if they had a dual-wield option that would work, but anything a pistol can do, a shotgun does better up close. Especially that lovely thing Jake keeps behind his counter in the Well (actually got that by stripping off my armor and stealthing in after taking some pharma to make me more quiet...).

But during early mid-game, lots of what I was facing was significantly higher level than me, so I started trying out long-ranged stealthed rifle fire to even out the odds before I had to engage enemies up close. Worked great! Although not so much if you had to get close (taking off your spacesuit/helmet at an outpost without breathable atmosphere isn't recommended :steammocking ). Then the question comes: Laser or Ballistic? Full-auto Equinox with some stacked burning works great, but gets expensive. Orion modded out is fun, but you can't get burst-fire or full auto on it. Ok...ballistic it is. Lots of options!

So, TLDR version, I picked ballistic / rifle because of the variety of engagement ranges, rate-of-fire, and economy of operation. I even found a stockless rifle that's a shotgun, and added explosive rounds to it at the work bench. Muhahaaa!

Would adding burst-fire to it take away from the Marksman crit bonus? I know it does for full-auto...

Power BeatDOWN

That with a MagSniper and suppressed Beowolf/Peacekeeper/Fury seem to work out nicely for me. I'm sure saving on trauma packs, lol!

What is your choice, and why?

Thanks for reading!!

My weapon choice was "Uninstall game" as soon as I realized it was boring trash.

Is there a reason i pick what has ammo. All the guns feel the same to me.

And yet...according to the icon by your name, you still own it and haven't refunded. I guess it's worth it to keep trashing something other people enjoy :steammocking: .

Odd...they all feel different to me, especially now that I've gotten really into modding them at the craft station. For instance, my Powerbeat is a monster with exploding rounds, but I had to go semi-auto because burst/full auto tends to have me shooting the ceiling a lot with the recoil, lol! Of course, my Peacekeeper can drive tacks at full auto after I put a muzzel brake on it. And a particle weapon, like the Big Bang or Jake's Hangover Cure? You can definitely tell what you're shooting :steamhappy: .

Have you ever played fallout new vegas those guns feel different to me because i will use them differently. Here i would use them all in the same scenario. I think it's mostly because of the scaling a shotgun might be worst then a rifle at short range if it's low grade.

situational ... the hard hitters have low ammo capacity and are no good in a swarm, so you need a mix that includes a hard hitting long range, a full auto or rapid fire, etc.
My trash gun atm is a highly modded grendel that does 70 something per shot semi auto, tons of ammo for it thanks to the family being full auto, has armor pen, silence, scope, internal damage. Great for safari xp farming or the trash guys in a building. Then you run into that one guy who has 10x the hitpoints and damage of everyone else... and you bust out the single shot mega smack of some flavor (mine is currently a rivet 'gun').

I really like the Big Bang particle-beam "shotgun" for CQB when I go loud. Otherwise, I mostly rock chemical firearms or the railguns.

I've kept the Ember angry-photon pistol and an advanced Novablast stun blaster for edge-case problems.

My favorite weapons to use were the urban eagle and xm-2311. Ended up using the beowulf the most because it was just the most efficient weapon in the game overall.

Found a Modified Advanced Magshear, 345 rate of fire, 5 mod slots. 32 damage. Thing is it's 32 PER BULLET. And it shoots 25 bullets at a time faster than most fully auto guns.
This Keelhauler is a type of Magshear (only 189 fire rate)

Sniper rifle for the long range sniping and such when I can get away with it.

Semi-automatic shotgun as close range because sniper rifles suck in close quarters do to hip firing penalties and such. When you are out surveying and get swarmed you need a close quarters weapon.

Don't you have a problem with magazine size when you're in a scrum trying to exfil and find someplace to turtle up? Reloading has killed me more than anything else, I think!

One skill point in reloading makes a HUGE difference.

The Revenant is a magshear? Its easy to forget which is which with the unique names, for me at least.

If I'm desperate and worried about mag size I'll pull out the Revenant:
