You should hit up the Freestar ranger planet and get this!
Making heads into canoes one trigger pull at a time
I sorta got it by accident exploring around and doing a couple of quest lines
With sneak attack damage bonuses and marksmanship crit chance it's pretty amazing while you're leveling up looking for that MagSniper!

Got the "Goth" Skinpack, because otherwise most of the weapons look like Nerf Guns in terms of colors. This skin pack "fixes" that.
If I'm out of ammo for that weapon, I use the Maelstrom as the workhorse.

Prefer the AA-99s in terms of aesthetics, but I'm conserving/accumulating ammo on that one so don't tend to you use it much at the moment.
I used one of these as my close-quarters silenced weapon until I found a Kodama I like. It's a solid rifle class shredder. I like that even weapons you find at the start (Maelstrom) can be useful with the right bonuses/modifications
I wish we could craft weapon /suit/clothing skins!!

7.77mm has a lot of ammo lying around and its rather cheap to buy. Also its enough to kill a lot of enemies with 2-3 shots on haredest difficulty.
Nope. The XM-2311 is a monster. Armour piercing rounds & high power internal means its easily one of the best standard handguns in the game. With a prefixed advanced version your looking at potentially one of the best weapons in the game.
So I mostly used weapons, I had loads of ammo for.
Started with Equinox, and it did the job early on.
Soon moved to Shotty. Then abandoned Shotty for Coachman. Then returned back to Shotty.
Then I found quite good Hard Target (ironically with a feature, that increases bash damage - something I never used with sniper rifle), and after some modifications it is still my fav sniper rifle.
Only during terramorph fights, I used Magstorm, which had extra DMG against aliens & extra DMG while aiming (but that's it, I depleted my ammo fast so shelved it)
From melee I found great Wakizashi, with 3 useful features, but in DMG, it was then replaced by more superior Painblade.
Eventually I use pistols, as I like the in-game pistol effects, but I am constantly low on ammo, so I usually use it for fun and weak enemies.
Most versatile is Orion, good range, good magazine volume, good accuracy, great damage (especially when I found one with "double damage vs full health enemies")
So it's Shotty, Orion, Hard Target, that I cycle through nearly every single battle.
Ironically, finding those with epic features, that are actually helpful (not all extra bonuses are practical, so I rather sell such guns) was not possible and I have nearly 200 hours into the game. RNG is pretty tough to me.
But at least it motivated me to invest into weapon mods research (which is not cheap from resources perspective). With mods, those three become deadly. Unless I meet +20 level stronger Terramorph.
Awesome!! Great information! I did find a nice Urban Eagle that I slapped a suppressor and drum mag on; pretty awesome since it had the 'Berserk' trait on it for when I had to strip off my armor to stealth around
