Made everything I've seen of the Starborn armour so far meaningless it was just insane although I do admit to liking the NG+ 4 Armour for cosmetics, has been my favourite so far.
I've messaged the lad to get the link , if he replies I'll post it up if not I'll link it tomorrow when I see him at work.
I've questioned the point since NG+ 2 tbh I generally havent bothered modifying anything yet, seems abit pointless untill NG+ 10 from my perpestive but I fully intend to go that route when I don't have to do the temple nonsense anymore.
Some of the powers can be pretty useful, Void form can boost stealth damage greatly, slowing time can turn a tricky situation into a mockery as too can the anti-grav, always something funny about walking through a room full of floating or slowed pirates then just shutting the door behind you.
In short I can't say I disagree with you. A lack of a signature weapon is a bit of a missed opportunity , wheres the dang lightsabres ..
On the starborn armor... adding on 9 legendaryies would be fine since we figure... its an all in one suit. So why not? 3 for helmet legendarys, 3 for suit legendaries, 3 for pack legendaries. I didn't look in the armor slots but I think even that is fuzzed up cause they didn't know how to make it upgradable in their system. and the NG+ armor you get I swear is worse than the deep mining armor you start with.
And yes A iconic weapon dependant on the weapon you used the most. Which in starborn case if you were a melee manic you get the starborn saber... And thing is... I would make it so you can gain multiple weapons through the NG+ since the old weapon levels up like the armor and the ship. so if you changed your play style you could end up with any and all weapons you want to have and they be the best weapons in the game by NG+10 or beyond.
Eh the powers, I find lack luster, though I have only gotten to NG+ not beyond. But all I see the power upgrades doing is every 3 levels lessening the amount of power you use per cast.... out of a starborn power pool that doesn't improve unless you force the game to do so. Which suggested at one time they had somethng to increase your base starborn power. Just seems that too many yes men and not enough dreamers on the team at bethesda
Only to look up online and only find that leveling up the powers decreases the amount of star power used... every 3 levels. Doesn't seem to increase what that power does, damage, duration or effect
Same crap as Skyrim when there were only a handful of useful shouts
And the lameness of starborn stuff is no surprise... remember Miraak's crap from Skyrim
People think they are supposed to be late-game-ultimate tier items, and although the story may support that, the mechanics do not, and so you should not view them that way.
I can give you only a half point for this. even with the best of options, I would put in that after NG +1 or +2 the suits and ship needs to be much better. Only got NG 1 for now... But as far as being considered early game stuff... Maybe for the astra and first ship... after that they really have to amp up the power of the suits and ships since the fastes I see someone getting to the MQ is in 12 hours... and the subsequence runs is 4-8 hours each... and that is going after temples and artifacts only not going after anything else..
So by that metric NG +2 is where it should be mid to high tier gear... But I have looked up the tree of power as far as suits and even the ships seem weak in their later versions.
playing on very hard with guns you just don't need the resistance offered by some armours unless all you were doing is punching and slashing stuff.
NG+ is worthless imho, again, shows me whoever signed off on this NG+ system doesn't care nor understand what their community wanted. The storyline is interesting, but side quests, companionship interactions, it feels like one giant drama after another.
I keep trying to play again, try something different, but I just can't seem to enjoy it, not even for replayability. I had far more fun in FO 4 with starting over, as I at least had multiple story lines and could finish the game in different manner each time, but not really so with Starfield, for everything leads to the same... Unity.
I would love to see another great story line in the vein of what Bioware accomplished with the original Mass Effect trio they released. You actually got close to your character and those you interacted with. You built solid relationships with those characters, and the depth they went into all that was very well done.
We have nothing like that in Starfield.
Yeah... at least in skyrim the powers got more powerful depending on the dragon souls gained and if you had the full words to the thurum. But here... I have yet to see such a power boost from the level II... I guess they just spread the power of the starpowers to the three sets.
No, because you are still misunderstanding things. It is NEVER meant to be end-game armor. Not even at Armor 10 or Ship 6 (the max for each). They are just slightly better starting gear for a later level NG+. The subsequent runs are, more like 2 hours max without powers, even at a relatively slow pace. MAYBE 6 if you get all 24 powers too, but even then the stuff you get is good enough if you are just bum-rushing that, though obviously you will likely also find stuff dropping off of people along the way.
You WANT it to be later game gear, and that is perfectly fine. I'm simply telling you that it isn't late game gear, even if you think it should be, and so you should just treat it like what it is until mods come out: Early gear for NG+.
No the misunderstanding is that an all in one suit is piss poor reward for completing the rotation, and completing the rotation more times gives you still piss poor suits in return.
Eccentially the starbornsuit is Post game materials. Cause of how it is only through jumping through the unity that you get it. And you sacrafice gear that is a good 200 points better in most regards... yet you get a single peice of armor with 3 random effects on it.
And does it get better? Maybe thorugh multiple repeats. However you arrive at the end point where - Said suit is not worth having to repeat even a half story cause even getting the hunter armor. The final suit you end up with armor that is barely in the league of the best suit+helmet+pack.
the hunter armor should be the end game gear yet its mid teir at most even with the best effects on it.
not to mention Bethesda fails to give you a weapon equating with your favored weapon for that game play through AKA Starborn weapon.
She sells a rifle that has the highest base rifle damage that I've found in the game, for example, at over 1000 damage per shot with a single hit once modded, and it has a very large clip (32 iirc) to boot compared to the Hard Target.
But that price tag though. you have to be a dozen bounty hunts deep to get it
Level 10 in all powers and I use ................... personal atmosphere 99.9999% of the time. Totally not worth it you can keep it up 100% of the time at just level 2 so no need to go beyond that the suit is complete trash the ship is complete trash as in just getting the mark 1 suit you can get at the lodge in the first 20 minutes of game play or 5 minutes of game play on new game plus gives you better armour than the new game plus 10 armour the starborn has.
Mark 1 suit 252 protection vs starborn venator suits 246 protection sure the starborn suit can have 3 perks but most are trash and the Mark 1 suit can have modifications to make it better which the starborn suit can't. Lastly the ship is literally outdone by any other ship you can capture on higher levels ie beyond level 60 when ships are spawning in with 38 to 40 reactors, with 30 jump range and a butt ton of guns add to this you can then customise them and the fact the starborn ship is no word of a lie just a cockpit with wings it makes all the new game plus content kind of pointless.
