This is a singleplayer game so it can't die
You can literally play it forever. There are no servers. There is no online mode. So it can't die.

Those who keep saying its dead make no sense, for one still 80k playing just on steam (not counting all other platforms), two every game sees a drop off in players, three its a singleplayer game so...again...it can't die. Even if bethesda doesn't support it due to not enough players (which it does have enough for support), thats actually better because mods are free (usually) and better and they won't break every update if there are no updates.

That was the worst thing about skyrim and all its endless editions is mods outright breaking lol

Thank you. I suppose if you've spent most of your gaming life playing F2P online games you might be concerned. But as you said this is a *single player game*.

That's not really true, if enough people stop playing it gives Bethesda even less incentive to continue to support the product.

This is the same Asmongold who said I rate it a 6/10 because I don't like that kind of game but to someone who does like it it is probably a 7/10, that Asmongold?

Such cruel words, 7/10 so scathing.

This is also why I'm so hesitant to even start any "game as a service" after having been burned multiple times by the fact that those games require people keep playing them to stay available, and so they are beholden to the whims of the loud minority of annoying internet dwellers. That and they'll inevitably turn to ♥♥♥♥ eventually either way -- like Conan Exiles.

Meanwhile I can play my singleplayer games whenever and however I want. Modded or not. At my own pace. Starfield can't "die" when I can literally back it up and boot it up whenever I want. Even if Bethesda were to move on from the game after the creation kit comes out -- which isn't happening, but let's play dumb pretend for a moment -- so what? I can still play a game I enjoy immensely. It doesn't matter.

Get out of here with you logic. Didn't you get the memo? Only negative posts allowed.

Extra lazy troll™ points if you name the one whos name begins with an A, preferably in the thread title.

Town of Salem 2 a boring Among Us rip off has 4k views on Twitch. Starfield has 3k, a single player game can definitely die because of lack of interest. I know some people will defend this game to the end but it is absolutely one of BGS's worst offerings to date.

The main story is nearly unbearable, outposts are not fleshed out and just a pain, and Todd's BS about the game is just getting started when you end it is laughable. Only people with a very open schedule want to visit those boring ass temples 240 times or w/e the insane number is.

I guess this means that Redguard and Battlespire didn't die either and are still in their prime

Daikatana, Duke Nukem Forever, E.T on Atari, oh yes. Bad singleplayer games can indeed die.

In the sense of SF not being a live-service game yes.

As far as I know, if Steam shuts down the game does as well.

What about every other game that loses players in initial few weeks? This is a stupid non-argument.
RadCon One Oct 3, 2023 @ 2:09pm
Even singleplayer games can die, that just means there is low player count compared to historic numbers. Having said that, this is far from dead.

Not in their prime equals dead now? As long as there are people playing those games, they aren't dead. Hell, both games are still streamed on Twitch... Battlespire not so much, but there's a surprisingly high number of Redguard VODs on there.

I'd rather be in Hell where all the interesting people are than sit in purgatory forever...
