In all seriousness though - if nothing drastic is done to differentiate the writing and gameplay for TES VI, and the engine isn't seriously revamped (or better - rewritten), then I fear for Bethesda's legacy. If TES VI came out in the same state as Starfield... torches and pitchforks.
oh yea but thats not the same team, other studios under Zenimax like Id Software still produces great games, im talking about Bethesda Softworks, they are long gone.
oh and btw Arkane is dead too, 70% of the developers that made Dishonored and Prey left the studio after having to work on Redfall.
It was not made by bethesda
Some of them made Weird West in the new studio.
I haven’t played many Beth games but I’m really disappointed in Starfield, it’s so flat, dull and boring. If felt rushed and unfinished too despite being so many years in development.
yeah and apparently they are working on a first person game now, maybe a spiritual successor to Prey ?
When is Bethesday, again? Is that in between Wednesday and Thursday? Or the one that comes after Saturday? I keep getting all the days confused these days.
See here's the thing most of todays generation of gamers do not seem to understand. Graphics do not make a game good, they can help a bit, but a pile of crap is still a pile of crap no matter how pretty you try to make it with glitter, its still crap. The problem with Starfield is its just a huge pile of crap coated in semi-dated looking graphics. The graphics aren't the problem, the problem is how poor the base game actually is.
I mean look at indie games, alot of them look like crap graphically but they have great gameplay and are actually fun, so that more than makes up for it. I'd rather a game thats fun and plays well than something thats nothing more than glitter on crap. Its the big problem with AAA games these days, most of them are garbage because they only focus on making it pretty and basically no where else gets any love. Resulting in a poor game that just is coated in shiny glitter to try to hide how poor of a game it is behind the graphics.
Its why I prefer back in the ps1/2 and earlier era's devs had to actually try because of the limited graphical abilities, they had to actually make a good game to sell it because the graphics weren't that great back then. Now a days crappy games can sell just if they are pretty enough and devs know this and focus on it.
I'd nto say Bethesda is dead, but I can say they really harmed how their fans look at them and feel about their future titles. I am worried as hell how bad TES6 will be after Skyrim and now starfield. Sorry but I disliked skyrim, wasn't a fan of the world, the main story was stupid, they removed spell crafting which ruined mages for many people, and they made it worse, they added a blacksmithing system which made exploration to try to find better equipment completly pointless since you can craft better than you would ever find. I hope TES6 has spell crafting but throws the blacksmithing system in the garbage. I'll honestly be surprized if TES6 has skills that level up as you use them anymore.
story and gameplay for sure. Unfortunate Starfield lacks both.
This all started on ESO when people were cheating in PVP and zenimax outright refused to ban the cheaters. Instead, and quoting the Community Relations Manager: "These kinds are cheats are gray areas in our terms of service-"
That's when I knew for a fact this company and turned to a dumpsterfire. This is also when my assistant caught a perma-ban on their forums for telling her to eat a **** sandwich. It was an appropriate response if you ask me.
My guild, some 1,200 people spread out into some 6 guilds in that game literally died over night. We were PVPers; and the moment they said they weren't going to do anything about cheating, we went from some 1,200 active players to 10 (the leadership, me, my assistant, raid leader, squad leaders, etc) in 48 hours.
We had for months tolerated the caltrops exploit and all other sorts and manners of cheats, including just exploing vamp mechanics, but when the other side was camping the "protected" wayshrine to zone in and put people into infinante death loops - welp, that's how you kill a game by saying there is no consquence for that kind of disruptive behavior.
Try that mess in Eve online and see how long you keep your account.
