Impossible to stealth steal the artifact in "No sudden moves"?

I snuck into the art collector's vault but when I pick up the artifact, the entire ship is alerted, no matter what. Is it impossible to stealth this mission?

You just need to remember the basics of CQC.

I have not tryt in stealth but i know for fact you can talk him down and have him give it too you. Then you can clean out the ship and take everything that wil make a pretty buck or has your interest otherwise

I don't believe it is meant to be. If you are worried about the bounty however, just fly to Aikla first and pay it off. Then return to the lodge.

Convince Petrov to lead you to the artifact, then shoot him instead of grabbing the thing. Petrov surrenders and you can leave the ship without killing anyone.

Just shoot the collector once and he will surrender and tell everyone to stand down then you just walk out.

I first tried simply bashing him with the weapon, but that also made everyone hostile. Then I tried shooting him, but one shot almost killed him and set him on fire, so everyone become hostile from that as well.

Then I searched the forum here to see if there was another peaceful solution and found this thread, then tried shooting him again, and this time he surrendered and let me take the artifact.

So it seems there is a balance on how much to 'hurt' him on the first attack to be successful here. Not too much, not too little.

Was hoping for another persuasion challenge, but...

You will get a 500 bounty no matter how you getr the artifact there is no avoiding it. However, at the artifact choose to attack Petrov, and when you down him he'll beg for his sorry life and you can make him tell the crew to stand down.. what does this do? it removes the stolen tag from every item on the ship and you can loot anything on the ship you please with 0 reprecussions. Can just go to neon to clear the bounty, the loot you'll get from the ship more than makes up for it. Still, kinda annoyed they forced it like this, as I was trying to have a bounty free character and if you do the main story that is impossible (till mods anyway).

Yeah you gotta choose to attack him in front of the artifact in the dialog option then tell the crew to stand down to not have the entire ship go hostile.

Yeah, this mission was driving me crazy for like 2 hours. Tried all sorts of different ways to sneak in or distract to grab the artifact unseen. Nope. There is absolutely no way. It is hardcoded to turn everyone to hostile if you just grab it. Finally got pissed and just shot him and was like....oh. thats dumb.

I was stuck here too and got angry, so i threw a grenade at his feet in frustration and he gave up XD
But I was annoyed when I tried to go back to the Lodge and got arrested and this bald guy trying to cut me a deal like I am the worst criminal ever. For 500 bounty pfft
I said ok then ignored his quest.

I didn't know that trick to go to another city :T

For shame, I kind of liked Petrov. We could've been friends/business partners. Exchange rare stuff and antiques.
