Report a translation problem
Load an earlier save, or use "tcl" in console to noclip out, or open console, click the door and type "unlock".
I made the mistake of running behind the big doors at I think it was the helium 3 extraction prefab as I opened them.
This game was not tested the same way elder scrolls or fallout was haha.
I understood it as you were glitched/stuck. If it's a quest, I would YouTube/Goggle/Reddit it to see how other people solved it. Sometimes you'll see that you are legit stuck due to bug, and sometimes you find out that you just missed something.
Yes it seams like one.
But given the game problem...
It's called a "work-around".

It might be a puzzle and I'm just stupid. (Though how could I tell?)

Naw, I got into this box made of girders, a door closed, it started moving like it was on rails or something, and then stopped.
I moved around inside it and couldn't find a way out. I jumped, I boosted, I crouched, I clicked on everything, and there seemed no way out at all. I even activated the scanner to see whether anything was highlighted, but no...

I tried, but either my Google-Fu is weak or nobody else has enoucntered it.
I'm still trying to figure out which it is at this point.
And I think I might have technically been in combat, though the enemy was nowhere in sight anywhere but the radar.
So either it's a reproducible bug or Bethesda did it on purpose. Or they didn't realize they'd messed up. Or something.
