This is intentional here is a mod that fixes it:
https://www.nexusmods.com/starfield/mods/497
thanks chip i'll give that a try though my problem is not the UI itself its the game world FPS tanking after being in the UI
so maybe one of the 1k optimised texture packs off nexus would help.
problem is, llike chips suggestion above, so far these fixes boost fps a bit or make game smoother, but this issue persists regardless.
I'm on 3070ti with 8gb of vram and just installed 1k texture mod. It slightly increased fps in NA but fps frop still there.
Also I've noticed "BUS usage" increase in MSI afterburner then it happens. My guess would be memory leak or something...
thanks for reporting back on that you jus saved me a download.
been doubting my pc but no, this is a bug isn't it.
I have identical issue - let me know if you find a solution. I am on a RTX 3070
After some more messing arround I've noticed this 2 lines in dlss mod log:
Looks like changing settings from console not having any effect for some, will continue testing.
Upd: nope, last option for me is try to run pix debugger, but that's an andventure for another time.
Upd2: another thing I've noticed - textures become blurry then bug occurs. I belive, it's because there not enought vram to hold hires textures. Someone somethere forget to free some framebuffers...
Disabling dinamic resolution, scaling to 100% and disabling overlays (discord, steam, nvidia) helped a lot. Also, restart the game after any settings change.
Also killing processes which use gpu memory (browser, messagers, anything with fancy ui) probably helped, but could be a placebo...
by all means try it but it made no difference for me, let us know if it works for you...
this sort of worked in that it set my FPS to a very reliable 10 fps lol, i am at near the minimum specs for this game :( but still over them.
i have mostly mitigated this problem by using only the optional part of this mod:
https://www.nexusmods.com/starfield/mods/3579?tab=files
The optional files are for optimisation for people using HDD. although im running on SSD this seems to mostly remove this issue for me. the fact that it does still sometimes occur would suggest there is a bug or memory leak but it has at least made the game playable for me again.
tbh with the nice beefy rigs you folks have you really shouldn't need this mod at all but it might be worth testing and seeing if it can shed any light on the issue
dont get me wrong, its great you can play on that system but that 1650ti just may not up to the task
ive played for multiple hours and have not seen any noticeable increase in memory usage, but i havent tried lately so i will check on this again
https://www.videocardbenchmark.net/compare/4195vs3842/GeForce-GTX-1650-Ti-vs-GeForce-GTX-1070-Ti
tbh that was my first thought too, and i have looked into various optimisations for exactly this reason
however people are posting with exactly the same experiance and they running 3070's or better (theres a few posts about this on reddit too), which have at least 8GB vram. So there is obviously some other issue thats even effecting systems well over the minimum spec
so i think its good to continue to highlight this as a bug, people with decent cards may get a fix and i might get some improvement if this bug is isolated and fixed.
