It's just that good. I consider it the best game music ever.
The music on Starfield, there is music? I mean, it's more atmospheric sounds, which worked very well in Fallout, but largely does not fit a sci fi setting. Some of it is pretty good, but I would not call it music.
Would not call it bad, not by any stretch, but would not call it great either.
It's there to add atmosphere, not to get stuck in your head
Which Fallout? Cause the only two I can recall off the top of my head are F2 "Give me a kiss to build a dream on" (Because lets face it, that's an awesome song) and "I don't want to set the world on fire" but I can't actually remember if that was from 3 or 4.
And I don't recall the theme from Elder Scrolls, except Skyrim.
I do however, have Starfield's main theme in my head constantly.
The Skyrim theme is the Elder's scrolls theme remixed.
The combat tracks fail to do both though.
The rest was just rehashes of Morrowind/Skyrim/Fallout.
I meant the Dovakiin track.
I have not used rumble sense DS1 either
Game music has not been good in a decade minus a handful of titles.
This is different from it not standing out though. Lots of good background music doesn't, that's not really what it's there for.
Listen to the Imperator Rome soundtrack and you instantly feel like you're in ancient Europe.
Listen to Stellaris and you instantly get more of a sense of exploration and science fiction than the whole game of Starfield.
Just another - in the long list of Starfield minuses.
Other Bethesda games ... not so much. Mass Effect series had great music, really added to the storytelling in that game. In Bethesda, it's sandbox storytelling so really the music for the most part takes a back seat.
And I think it's also the case in general these days that more companies "mail it in" when it comes to music because they are well aware that a large percentage of their players immediately turn off music in the settings at the load screen before they even play one second of the game, as a reflex.
Strangely enough there's one that really reminds me of Perfect Dark for some reason and I like hearing it
