Yes I'm aware of this method but it would be nice to be able to build and craft things in the outposts and the dream home aswell using linked unlimited storage containers. The lodge, dream home, and outposts can be linked together. Each crafting station can be linked to the unlimited storage space.
It worked so well in FO4.
Another thing is why can't you brake down weapons and space suits for components at crafting stations like you could in FO4.
It seems Starfield is one small step backwards for us, and one giant leap backwards for Bethesda.
I can only give you and everyone else the same advice. Use one cheat, just one: set your weight allowance to 10.000 (or more). Think of it as central inventory, which you access by some futuristic technology. It saves sooooo much time.
For me this cheat turned the game around. The inventory management was so boring and time consuming that I found it hard to keep playing and reluctant to start again.
Does it break immersion and will you feel guilt? Yes, for about two minutes. After that you will be kicking yourself for not doing it earlier.
Unlimited storage is a bad idea, because unlimited stuff is a bad idea.
You should warn people that using console commands will disable achievements. Although there is a mod available which can re-enable them.
That said, you can give any container infinite storage space by entering '0' for the carryweight.
First manoeuvre yourself to where the container is right in front of you. Engage the command console. Then find the container ID by clicking on the container while in the command console. You have to be very close to the container. (I had to go into stealth mode to get down close enough). Then the container ID should be something like 'CONT (hexidecimal ID)'. If it is a container that you placed, it will probably begin with 'FF'. Then just use the console command: [container ID].setav carryweight 0.0. Omit the brackets. Now your container will have infinite storage.
