why there are no aliens in starfield
the galaxy is 100,000 x 100,000 x 1000 lightyears across the entire settled systems is an area of space around 160 light years at it's widest, there is no aliens in starfield because the area of the galaxy humans have explored is so tiny.

to explain this better if you took a 4k picture of the entire galaxy the explorable area of space ingame is smaller than a single pixel, there might be a huge alien empire just 200 Lightyears from earth in starfield but we would never know

The writers could be using the Great Filter or the Dark Forest hypotheses.

to put it another way there are 100,000,000,000 stars in the milky way galaxy.

starfield lets us explore 120 of them.

as a percentage that means in starfield, we can explore 0.00000012% of the stars in the galaxy.

and you wonder why aliens aren't in the game

Oh! There is another possibility - the trope: Humans Are Gods or Humans Are Superior.

In both of these, there is the idea that no other intelligent life exists in the Milky Way, possibly even the universe, until humanity gets creative and uplifts sentient species to full sapience and/or we create completely new, sapient species using all the genetic data we've collected over thousands of years, a Teen's First CRISPR Kit that we bought from Space Toys-R-Us, and referencing a hodgepodge of crayon drawings that we found on the fridge or left on a table at Denny's.

Personally, I think it's a breath of fresh air to have a space RPG that *isn't* full of wacky alien races for once.

I think what you mean is "Why are there no sentient aliens in Starfield"
Drake equation, look it up. This game has some grounding in it.

This sounds like the same argument I make to the ppl that complain about all the lifeless planets/moons in the game. I tell them that in reality only a small fraction of planets have what it takes to sustain life so that leaves a lot of lifeless rocks.
The problem is that they don't care and they hate it when a little bit of reality gets put in a game.

to be honest this game does have aliens.

from what i have seen in game i believe Terramorphs are intelligent and sentient aliens, they have just evolved through genetics instead of technology.

which is honestly a more Alien concept of intelligent aliens than most, they are intelligent in a way that humans don't even recognise
Are you sure there are no aliens?

There is a skill called Xenosociology that can omly be used on aliens.

OP meant to say sapient aliens. We have intelligent, alien-adjacent critters on Earth today - some who've been here long before modern humans conquered the land.

I just wish there was something like a deathclaw ready to flip my entire ship as soon as I land or a dragon

I kinda agree with this sentiment. It’s one of the reasons I liked Firefly and Battlestar Galactica.

Regardless, I think the SF universe does have sentient alien life, we just haven’t seen it yet.

It’s pretty strongly hinted at that the temples, the armillary, etc were not created by humans - especially since they pre-date human exploration and settlement of space beyond Earth.

I guess they COULD pull a red herring and try some kinda twist where all this stuff was created by future humans who time travelled or something like that but…I feel like that would be too “out there” and “too much” on top of the whole infinite universes they’ve already got going on.

I guess we’ll eventually see.

Theyll just have stargates in the DLC that just connects us to skyrim and they'll just say the dragon priests built them

That would be awesome.
I want a space suit built out of that green glass armor.

there are no sentient aliens in starfield, because any sufficiently advanced and sane alien species would take one long look at us and either eradicate us or enslave us.

If they based their decision on reading this forum, they'd probably salt the earth as well just to be absolutely certain.

That would be pretty darn cool and just pretty all-around. I would very much install that mod.
