Transfer cargo to new ship?

How do I transfer cargo form old ship to new? I have tried a search but nothing seems to explain how, so it must be obvious and stirring me right in the face.

The stuff in your cargohold get transfered automaticly but you must be sure the ship you want to use does have the room to store as much as your original ship has stored.

The stuff in chests and those manequins you must take off before you make any change to a ship. Even changing color wil mess up the stuff you have stored in the chest and manequins

if you make an other ship your home ship then everything possible gets transfered to that one. check the cargo of the new ship and it should have stuff in it from the old one. atleast if the new one has enough sotrage capacity to take over everything from the old one, including what you had in boxes around the ship and/or displays of any kind.

Your dead wrong here... too many people have lost hours of collecting legendary's simply because they changed color on their ship while having the storages and manequins in use

Na as a ship steal-er i once had a ship with 2841 or something like that out of 600 capacity then changed back to my 3780 storage ship o issues.

Weight the risk of losing your stuff vs the inconvenience of manually looting your armory and containers outside your Cargo Hold and live with the Consequences.

Btw... and this happened to me several times when stealing ships: You might notice that all cargo from your previous home ship will be stored EVEN when the new one has lesser cargo capacity. It might be that all the junk in MISC gets stored anyway. I see that the mass number is sometimes bigger than the given cargo capacity.

if your collecting gear its best to put em on display at your main outpost, that generally doesn't proc any bugs of the sort.

didnt had a problem with storage boxes being moved to inventory when swapping ships.
i also didnt really bother that much with decorating ships that basicly could be reset because a mission forces ya to swap ships or add something to your ship.
i personally do prefer decorating outposts and/or homes you can own which are static and arent getting reset.

Oh I got the Mantis ship and I think it has a larger cargo hold than the Frontier, so if it transfers automatically it should be fine, but it didn't or hadn't transferred when I swapped my ship over. I like the Mantis ship because it has a toilet and shower.
Storage is a big problem for me at the moment, I'm a hoarder and hate throwing stuff away.
