You can actually sell contraband on Mars without getting caught.

Played the game for a while now and only discovered this today, there is a secondary landing site just by Cydonia, you can actually land there straight out of a grav jump before getting scanned.

Not that I do contraband a lot, I have too much crap I can´t sell because no one has money, some 160 guns all worth 5k or more.

This is only for the very early game stages if you don´t want to sleep every time you need to sell something.

Why not just go to Red Mile or The Den? Neither of those places scan for contraband.

I know, the Key as well which is probably the best, it´s just to mention one of those discoveries that happen after you play the game for too long and wonder why it took so long to find out.

I did not mention the Key because that requires the having started the Crimson Fleet quest line. It also becomes unavailable if the player sided with SysDef,

I think it´s actually faster to fast travel to "fast time" planet, sleep in a bag and fast travel back.

I never finish that quest ... :-) .. just because of that.
