That is, captured ships sometimes reverting "to random something ship" and possibly not renameable in ship builder either when it happens.
Wait for patch, or use the ship duping glitch (the duped ship can be renamed, sell the original).
I didn't know there was a ship duping glitch. I'm tempted to use it, but I think I'll just sell the ship and capture another one that's Class C. It was literally the second ship I had in the game, back before I was even 10th level, and was only a Class A. I noticed the name change when I was updating the weapons now that I'm level 52 and found that there are much better weapons available thanks to Starship Design Lv 4.
Even if you do, it just changes back to "Ecliptic Combat AO1" again.
i stole a Sloop off some random Smugglers, it wasn't any faction, and it had nothing to do with Ecliptic but still ended up with that name...
Occasionally it gets it's old name back, but most of the time it's "AO1"... I tried naming it something else, but it just reverts to AO1, so it's practically stuck as that.
I also have one called "Damaged Ship", which was a basically derelict "Space Ox". Can't rename that one either...
