New character might be better than ng+
I didn't enjoy being a powerful god when starting out ng+. I started a new character and ended up having more fun. Ng+ made me realize that one of my favorite things about Bethesda rpg is going from zero to hero.

Are you enjoying ng+ more than starting a new character?

The thing keeping me from starting a new character is the skills. So many of the skills feel like they're 100% essential to put points into (with many of them, like Boost Pack and Scanners feeling like they should be equipment that you buy or earn through quests rather than points to dump into skills)

And a lot of skills feel... pointless. Like I haven't touched the social tree. I need to put those points into Piloting, Weapons, Research, etc or I'm not getting a lot of what makes this game... playable

Basically, I don't feel like I can really make a unique character in Starfield's basic form. I just end up with "the character I have to build".

If it's anything like Fallout or TES, there's likely to be patches that overhaul the skill system and I'm very much looking forward to those, and being able to make a stealth character vs a character specializing in heavy weapons with a lot of toughness, or dare I say it, even a character specialized in the special powers?

I went up until NG+4 in hope to see the different universes one might get into... ended up with the same one time and time again, my last NG+ i went with the skip main mission option... that was the final straw, it all just sckd hard, i ended up deleting a lvl 76 char and starting anew. Imo NG+ is not worth the effort and to fineky to give you what you want.

New game plus got boring pretty fast for me but I think multiverse is a stupid concept ... plus like Skyrim I don't use the powers. I made my own new game plus with some grind begone mods and having a great time :)

I'm loving NG+ a lot. I've intentionally avoided the faction quests and have just started grinding powers. I think I just got to NG+5? No complaints from me and there still is new stuff I'm coming across all the time. The powers grind is SUPER repetitive and lame and I think it is the single biggest misstep in the game, but other than that I've been quite immersed. I think a lot of people just rush content and get bored instead of really trying to be immersed.

NG+ is fun for me. You get to find new stuff, since you have nothing when you start, a downgrade in all your gear and ship, no money, no resources. It also fixes bugged up quest lines (many) so you can try again to get past script fails etc. It also lets you hang out on the level 50-75 planets if you didn't go there first time around. And of course it lets you try a new idea, like playing pirate instead of lawman.

That said new game has merits, as the content does become weak once you gear up in NG+ which does not take too long if you know what you want. Also new game lets you try new build ideas, assuming you didn't get high enough to raise every skill to 4 clicks.

NG+ would be 1000% better if the new ship could be edited or more things changed in the universes, beyond just the lodge.

I started a new character yesterday after having played on another for up to ng+5. I thought not having all those skills I've come to depend on would make a new character a lot less fun, but actually, I feel it's a lot more fun with a clean slate here as well, going from zero to hero all over again. I still think the ng+ system in this game is really good and I like it as an option, but it definitely doesn't replace starting all over.

I had more fun out of my NG+ run. However, I really disliked that all but two space suit types were automatically considered obsolete.

I'm quite liking NG+. I'm only on my 2nd NG+ and the game has already thrown a twist I didn't expect, which was encountering myself at the lodge after I finally decided to head there after getting about halfway through the Crimson Fleet storyline.

I'm quite intrigued as to what might happen once I finally start my 3rd NG+ run. (After I finish the UC Vanguard storyline I'm currently doing, in which they all keep mentioning that I sided with the Crimson Fleet before joining the UC...)

The fact that they have anticipated and made the side quest storylines link together like this seems quite interesting as well.
I'm considering doing UC first, then Crimson at some point in a future NG+ run to see if there is anything joining the two there...

^This or using NG+ mods that change the game drastically every time you do another round.

i do prefer a fresh start. at least that also allows me to change my traits. getting the same neon street rat conversation topics gets old on your third run.

i am hoping that ng+ will become more interesting once the modding tools are released. people could make huge mods where the universe will be very different from what you are used to. access to new story lines might make ng+ far more interesting.
right now the changes to the universe are just not interesting / different enough.

I prefer the NG+ because if you save scum, you can get a start that allows you to play the game with an actual attractive companion your parallel self. You can also use enhance on yourself and it will enhance your parallel self. Note, you might have to do a little traveling to get your parallel self to update appearances.

I like the promise of NG+ with seeing big (or small) changes in the universe. I suspect that's one thing that can be improved on with updates; let's hope Bethesda does that. Or, worse case, DLC. I also always liked the climb from zero to hero; actually being the epic hero was never that fun; the whole idea of NG+ seems designed to cater to that climb - but nothing forces you to go that path.

I also like the 'the expanse' feel of the setting. This feels like more 'hard' sci-fi then Elite or No Man's Sky. Amazing design work.

All in all, I'd say this setting has the most potential for adding more to it than any Bethesda title so far.

"You have great potential" is one of the harshest evaluations you can give a professional.

I kind of feel like you have to spam complete the main quest before actually enjoying the other mechanics of the game because of the NG+ mechanics.
