Can we make forum posting available to only people who own the game on Steam?

No worries, just don't read the negative posts (unless it is a legit complaint) like a bug that stops progress or a hardware issue and they ask for a solution.

This is exactly what I have already suggested, with the request to discuss this internally. The solution could be so simple, couldn't it? But admittedly, it wouldn't completely prevent trolling, but the impact would be orders of magnitude smaller.

That'd be perfectly fine. Leave "General discussion" as is, and create a new one for "Game discussion" or something specific that's for people who own the game and actually play it.

Last game I seen whose developer did this was domina

He ended up getting his game banned from steam for being a horrible bigot.

I think blocking people who don't own the game from posting on the forum is a bad move.

It wasnt just him being a bigot, and it definitely wasnt him making parts of the forums for people who only owned the game.

This guy had LOTS of issues, including spreading his... political views via Patch Notes, and unbanning himself multiple times after Valve banned him for breaking the rules constantly.

This can not be compared to what we have here.

Yes, he had too many issues to go into. But they all revolved around his inveterate bigotry. I'm not saying there's any comparison. Just that it's rare and unnecessary to block non owners from posting.

As an aside, i'm not sure an exclusive environment would help all that much, as quite a few of the angriest critics still own the game due to an inability to refund. *points at himself*

It's nearing two months. But yes, eventually, you're right. It took a long time back with Skyrim and Fallout 4 as well. I just get tired of the amount of noise to filter. I'll just check back in in a year's time, see if there's any improvement.

Better ask why so many negatives? You really think cause all hate Starfield? NO its cause Tod hyped up this game and build up a lot peoples hope to get something unique for 100 euros but it all was a big lie and that's why. My advice if you love the game then play it.
