Disappointing That we know now after the game has been out for a while..

No surprise there, I'd think it's clear to anyone who has experienced it that it was meant to be something else.

How else will they make money off of dlcs for years to come If they added everything up front?

Honestly i hate nerfed content but one thing i hated in NMS was planet afflictions.. It drove me nuts constantly trying to stay alive on planets 24/7.

So honestly not gonna miss those features again.

Glad that got cut. Would have been a pita to lug around 5 different space suit sets for exploring.

I would imagine all of those things will come back with a hardcore/survival mode that will no doubt come at some stage so i would not stress about it... Although it would have been nice to have that as an option to begin with...

They didn't nerf it, they finally see that was pointless to have planetary damage that was annoying to everyone. It was the same with Fo76, they needed 2 years to remove that facking "legacy" item from the game. At last this time they did it very fast.

Hoping for a survival mod that brings back what was cut. Or even better if Bethesda implements it. Food effects also feel quite underwhelming to me. I don't understand why they went with static +x health (why not +x% ?) on foods as it clearly has drastically different effect on player depending on their level. For example +20 health (even with nutrition skill) means practically nothing for a high level player >50.

You'd just keep them in ship cargo, no need to carry them everywhere since you'd only be switching once per planet.

Now I'm thinking how cool it'd be to have a ship hab that stores spacesuits on racks, and just clicking the rack swaps your active suit out. So you could have an "airlock" hab before your landing bay to switch spacesuits, kinda like getting in and out of power armor in Fallout 4.

Glad this was dropped, it would be fun in a space sim like elite where you have to plan everything out to the last detail to avoid death, but not something a bit more casual like starfield.

reads more like a balancing thing to me rather than a downgrade of anything.. honestly, having to carry around 3 different suits based on environment, as real as it could feel(immersive whatever you want to call it), is a bit excessive and would delay exploration of certain area's that are low level.

It could easily be fixed with mods to a persons flavor down the line, in which makes it a petty issue in the line of development vs average-player IQ playability.

Thanks to their ancient engine, anything they add in the future wont feel next gen or any close to it. Dont have your hopes up.

Sorry I couldn't read the Article about Bethesda's Commercialism while every ad on that webpage was attempting to dominate my attention. Seriously. I mean cnn.com does the same thing as well as Nexus so its not anything against PCGameN.

But I just can't do it. I am sure no one else gets the irony but me. This seems to be a human problem.
EzRyder Sep 26, 2023 @ 4:22am
wow, you do realize that article is ONLY about Afflictions or Illnesses in the game right?

so they added more gun mods, oh My another Major loss ehh
im glad they removed that, i have enough crap cold and afflictions as it is and i Hate trying to keep dozens of meds for them
please stop Looking for something to complain over, and if you do try to use something in that manner ... maybe actually read it?
clickbait is all this is

His explanation made me glad; games that force the player to do busywork just aren't fun, and having to maintain multiple kinds of gear for multiple environments would have been a giant PITA.

Like, I remember hearing about some game--RDR, I think--where you actually have to spend time in a bath washing each bodypart...endlessly...it just doesn't sound fun, and it sounds like what Bethesda took out.
I think it was the right decision, sacrificing "realism" in the name of fun.

I don't mind the nerf for normal play. But prefer if such things wouldn't be "cut" per se. Migrating the ideas to an optional Survival mode would have been the better alternative here.
