Correct. Only your skills and some new Starborn items and the Frontier remain. It's suppose to be a alternate Universe. But I will role play it as a jump back in time. I mean it's science fiction after all.

Only thing I see good reason is go alternate is your loved one is dead or lost, and same time gain power, but it's very hard to left your alive loved one and want to gain superpower level, all that. very hard choice, I guess. That's why I wonder max out super power and then return to original universe. ah well.

That ... only works until you get one of the "variant universes".

IMO, only finish the main quest one time unless you care about leveling up starborn powers. If you don't really care; wait until ng+ to really work on outpost; which, i'd wait to do until DLCs and mods fix outpost. They're boring, janky, buggy, and a shell of what they should be.

Once you jump and ever jump after you lose everything you had including relationships/friendships.
You start out with 2 ships, 1 starborn and the Frontier as it was when you first started to play. You also lose all your clothing including spacesuits and you get a starborn space suit.
Both the starborn ship and suit will slowly upgrade ever time you jump.

I only plan on doing NG+ level 1. After that, will work on a ton of stuff I never did in a normal run. I mean walking into the light, is a choice.

Fresh resources, a chance to repeat quests for more XP and perhaps try different choices? Do you reveal the fact that you're a traveler from another dimension or do you hide it?

Anyone know if the game keeps information on your previous universes in the save?

Well, if it was possible to jump back in time, your actions could certainly cause some changes. So a " Variant " universe compared to your original, would make sense.

The main quests remain the same, only you can change some outcomes. Like which companion dies or lives.

Nope...

You have the original universe; you have the standard NG+ universe, and then you have a small chance of seeing the eight or so variants.

There's actually a lot of little things that vary in different universes. SSNN music for an example, but also companion dialogue, if Constellation in general knows Andreja's backstory, etc, etc. I don't really know all of the possible changes.

Problem is that higher risk of save game corruption, bigger file, older file might mess up or error, this game already had big issues with auto save/quick save/override save error/issues, mostly bug here and there with going on with outpost, manual save clean save (not override same old file) help with less problem in game as far as I'm aware of it. I had lot of issues when I load auto save game, but less issues when I load manual save.

Use this first universe to learn the more indepth game mechanics

build a shipful of mistakes untill you no longer make those mistakes
Build a outpost in the same way. Then once you go NG+ you are much better equiped to take on a new universe and its chalanges.

You can get slightly different companion dialog by merely loading your game.
