That ... only works until you get one of the "variant universes".
You start out with 2 ships, 1 starborn and the Frontier as it was when you first started to play. You also lose all your clothing including spacesuits and you get a starborn space suit.
Both the starborn ship and suit will slowly upgrade ever time you jump.
I only plan on doing NG+ level 1. After that, will work on a ton of stuff I never did in a normal run. I mean walking into the light, is a choice.
Fresh resources, a chance to repeat quests for more XP and perhaps try different choices? Do you reveal the fact that you're a traveler from another dimension or do you hide it?
Well, if it was possible to jump back in time, your actions could certainly cause some changes. So a " Variant " universe compared to your original, would make sense.
The main quests remain the same, only you can change some outcomes. Like which companion dies or lives.
Nope...
You have the original universe; you have the standard NG+ universe, and then you have a small chance of seeing the eight or so variants.
There's actually a lot of little things that vary in different universes. SSNN music for an example, but also companion dialogue, if Constellation in general knows Andreja's backstory, etc, etc. I don't really know all of the possible changes.
build a shipful of mistakes untill you no longer make those mistakes
Build a outpost in the same way. Then once you go NG+ you are much better equiped to take on a new universe and its chalanges.
You can get slightly different companion dialog by merely loading your game.
