Is it safe to store your items in random chests
Specifically the house of enlightment in akila city, since it apparently doesn't have a weight limit so i just used it to store some stuff, mostly contraband i found from shaw gang quest whilst waiting for the trade shop to reset his credit

Is there any chance the items would dissappear if i left it there or with any other random chest for a while?

I don't know that myself, because I haven't kept anything in those chests long term. I used console commands to link one of the chests in the basement to all of the workbenches there, so those are the ones I've been using.

While I agree with you that the one in your house should be safe, I have seen threads that others have started where they claimed they lost items in their houses. So, personally, I wouldn't trust them.

Pro tip: you can just drop stuff on the floor in your ship. It will stay there forever. Or you can modify your ship which will put all of your stuff into the ships cargo, and it can go over the limit so you can basically cheat and have unlimited cargo.

You have two chests in the main crafting room in the lodge that are unlimited storage, plus a third one in the other room through the passage way. Plus the safe in your room, but you don't need it with three in the basement really.
Use the one next to the research bench for materials, the other one against the wall for everything else, and the third one in the other room for whatever else.

No need to use random chests.

Random chests are not safe, no. Most areas will get a total reset, including chests, after enough time has passed since that cell was last visited.

Safe containers are the 6 in the lodge (5 in the basement, 1 in the bedroom) which have unlimited capacity and the cargo hold of your ship, anything else is suspect.

Yes, when your ship gets scanned, any contraband anywhere on it, whether it be in a chest, just laying on the floor, or even in your personal inventory is included in the scan.

yes, any chests in personal housing are safe to store items. I have a chest in dream home for weapons i may want to use plus weapon cases to store weapons just for display and they have been safe for about 10 hours playtime
