Or the same bases, or the same drilling mines, or the same research stations, or the same animals or the same trees or plants or the same civilian outposts or all the same ship yards............

For such a huge universe no one seems to be able to come up with more than one design for any single thing.

Just like the last several BGS games, there's a limited number of set pieces for POI's, including caves. So yes, you'll see the same ones repeatedly.

It would have been cool if they had done fully procedurally generated interiors for some of the POI's, though even then you start to see and recognize the same 'pieces' within them. Regardless though, they did it the same as their last half dozen rpg's, which means you see the re-use more quickly.

You know what's the same EVERY SINGLE TIME YOU LAND SOMEWHERE, is the INSANE trafic that suddenly followed you to the planet that has ZERO life.

its annoying me to the point i want a mod that removes the "other space ships" that land around you when you VISIT a PLANET for THE FIRST TIME. seriously, Bethesda is your script-FU this bad.

It was never this bad before

IMO, it absolutely was. I think it's more about your perception than the reality of it. Less tolerance for it, basically.

Skyrim in particular, I was seeing the repeated stuff way sooner than I ever did in Starfield.
And I loved Skyrim.
There's very little variation in caves/facilities in the game. Even the main quest uses some of the same templates. I reached the point where I knew where pre-placed crates or corpses would be. It's really disheartening. I'd rather have a smaller game and more bespoke content personally.

There aren't that many bespoke locations when you think about it, outside of the city hubs (Neon being my favourite). There's a feeling of magic when you first explore barren planets. Ten planets later and...

But skyrims core wasn’t exploration, if bethesda wants us to explore than pois shouldn’t be carbon copies.

Don’t get me started on the “ temple grind “ , every player should just use commands to unlock them. It doesn’t respect the players time at all

Skyrim have copy pasted parts of dungeon, reused in different dungeons.

Starfield have entire same dungeons reused multiple times in various planets.

So no it's not the same of skyrim, is totally worse.

In over 55 system visited, i have seen maybe 10 unique PoI not tied to a main/side quests of some principal cities.

In skyrim you have multiple dungeon not tied to main/side quests.

Starfield totally lost any exploration you usually do in elder's scroll or fallout.

What I tend to find is the same POIs in the same planet, when I travel to a different planet I get a different set of POIs. I guess you need to explore different planets and different systems if you don't want to be stuck with the same POIs?

Honestly it does make some sense that POIs would be planet specific due to atmosphere requirements and local resources, just wish that the POI pool for planets was expanded more.

What we got with starfield was a fresh gameplay template. I have a strong feeling the expansions/DLCs will add to that greatly. Also given they have stated creation club content will be fully supported this time around I could actually see supporting PoI packs greatly if modders were so inclined.

Yeah, this is a major problem. Repeating the same locations, all the way down to the emails on the computers and the info on the slates and the specific loot in many of the crates. Gives big Mass Effect 1 vibes where every single ship was the same, but at least then it would vary the furniture and loot, and block different doorways sometimes. At one point I had a bounty mission followed by an artifact retrieval, and both were in an abandoned cryo facility, so it was the exact same location twice in a row on two different planets half a galaxy away from each other. And it’s even more glaring with the caves and mines, at least with facilities you could sort of think that maybe they’re all made by the same company or something, but how does the exact same cave appear everywhere? Seems like an easy fix too, either greatly increase the number of premade POIs or use the proc gen aspect to give them at least some variety.

There should be absolutely nobody who justifies this type of content generation in video games. They should be shamed and made an example out of because this should NOT be the standard for full priced release in ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ 2023 going on 2024
