Books question
Is there some reason to save books other than just for collection? I mean is there some special use for them down the road, a quest, bookshelves? They don't seem to be good for decor because you can't pick them up from the floor holding E. And most of them are quite heavy in relation to the price you get.
Essentially, are books one more junk you can safely ignore? Or just read them once and discard?

Book store in Akila City. Lady will pay money for copies of old Earth books except Charles Dickens.

Only one copy per book though. The rest, I think you can sell. Some books unlock Earth locations to look at.

Books are not even good to read. They are boring. Usually weird poems.

What's wrong with Charles Dickens?

It's a white male author. The feminist writers do not like white male anything.

Was done kinda as a compromise.

Could not do Skyrim style full books because of copyright and needing to devote a large amount of game resources to just public domain texts.

Could not do Fallout style and have most books be burned or non-readable because owning and reading a book in a space faring setting makes far too much sense once you're no longer having to shave off as much payload weight as you can for sake of fuel economy. They serve as a good, tangible distraction in a universe where opening the wrong crate can lead to a heatleech eating your face.

So the compromise to have books, but keep their text to be mostly a summary of the story as experienced by the player. Although there might be some players who would happily open up A Tale of Two Cities ingame and read the whole damn thing, most would understandably just want to play the game.
