i approach the security officer to convince him to hand over the key but he doesn't speak to me. i don't have a save i can return to, nearest of them is 16 hours behind my current save.

Prior to doing the Ryujin task-line I finished the Freestar Rangers mission, the last of which involved killing Ron Hope and his 2 security goons

Now, when I enter the front office of Hopetech as part of the Access is Key mission, all the Hopetech security people open fire on me. Even after evading them and making my way into the hangar to see the Security Chief, he won't speak to me.

Assuming you have the neuroamp, try using the force on him. Direct him to open the door.

I didn't have to kill anyone in this questline. During the last tense mission I had to taser someone to get past, probably because I missed a vent I was supposed to use

Ah, me again. Turns out the solution is simpler than I thought. Whereas I reckoned that the Va-aruun Ambassador's outfit I had in my inventory counted as a suit, it didn't meet the criteria for this mission. When I went back to Neon and bought a suit in one of the stores there, on returning to Hopetown the Security Chief now happily talked to me.

Security guards still shot at me on the way in AND out, though

Now I get it. Btw, those 2 security guards never stop trying to kill you. A man and a woman. They see me even with full stealth. I've sniped them twice now and the next time they respawn and I have to go to Hopetech for whatever reason, they'll be gunning for me.
