Equipment Stats and Companions

Do the Weapon and Suits Stats apply to them too or are they just Cosmetic?
I found a Suit with the Perk that Materials weigh 25% less so i wanted to know if i can make Sarah a more efficient pack mule?

every effect applies to companions from what I've seen; I once equipped a type of "mechanized" spacesuit to her which gave her +something % carrying capacity and it worked

Yes, they apply.

For example, Sarah is wearing a helmet that reduces "Resources" carry weight by 25 percent; I dump them on her and can see that it is working.

Thats what i wanted to do with her. i got a pretty good suit for her since i use the Mark 1 the whole time. Kinda sad that you dont find anything better than that. Every suit is worse even with upgrades than the Mark 1 without any.
