Is this Normal ?
Hey guys, for some missions, I am tasked to destroy some ships, but I often board the last one in order to get more XP and loot before blowing the ship, but Sam get mad at me for boarding those ships.

*Watch out for Spoiler*I am currently doing a mission for Sam and his wife is asking me to take an intel from a cargo ship The Dumas, who refuse to give it to us and start shooting at us. So I board it, deal with the security, and grab the intel from the safe and now Sam is mad at me because what I did is pretty much anti everything the collective stand for.

Is this normal ? it's the second time Sam is mad at me for boarding a ship that is part of a mission

Ok, so I just ran past all the enemy crew, got to their safe and grab the intel. I go back to my ship, resume the battle with the Dumas and destroy it, and now the entire crew hate me.

Is completing this mission a bad thing ? I thought I was helping an under cover cop taking down a crime syndicate

Its bugged, You can bypass the dumas mission all together, I accidently landed on the planet you go to after dumas the quest stage showed up I did the mission and everything continued fine and the dumas mission was ticked as done too...

I just blew it out of orbit and there was much rejoicing *yaaay!*

You murdered a woman in cold blood to save a few creds.

Why would it surprise you that Sam (a former ranger IIRC) would have an issue with this behavior.

That particular mission is bugged. I worked around it by taking all of Sam's guns and giving him only a disruptor rifle, then asking him to wait in the loading dock. You can knock out everyone except the security captain (dressed all in black), but if you shoot back at the captain, he'll dislike it, and if you knock the captain out, he'll be angry.

I knocked out everyone else in my way, lured the captain into a separate room and closed the door behind me, then snagged the contents of the cockpit safe. By that point, Sam had ignored my wait-here order and started shooting the captain himself, so I sprinted back to the dock and returned to my own ship. I was then able to finish the quest and I didn't get the "angry" ending.

I tried the same thing and clearly the developers didn't think anyone would try to capture the ship so it's just crewed by regular NPCs and not bad guys if you board it. It's an oversight. If you board the ship you can't blow it up without Sam getting mad either, so you have to just blow it up to begin with. The intel will be in the wreckage.

No matter if I just stun the captain, Sam gets mad if I do so, and if I just reload a save and just leave the ship then finish it in space combat instead, the whole crew hates me. As if I just attacked an innocent ship.

So what I did was just turning difficulty to very low, Tell Sam to wait for me at the entrance, kill the entire crew but spare the captain, grab the intel and then jump to an another star system. and completed the quest, man, that was a pain.

The whole Dumas thing is annoying. When I entered the ship for the mission I immediately thought about capturing it. Knowing Bethesda, knowing Starfield, I first checked out if it was safe to capture that ship that is quest related and I found the dozens of threads about the quest being bugged and I did it the safe way running for the captain's safe. Everything went fine.

Except that hours later after completing the mission, I decided to go back to the Rasalhague system to explore it and the Dumas is still flying around Rasalhague II, being hostile. If you destroy it every companion is pissed at you, if you try to capture it you have to deal with enemies stuck in the ceiling and even then you end up with a bounty.

It is all a question of flagging. When you finish the quest you either flag the ship as non hostile or you flag it as a regular enemy, with no bounty and no dislike. But lazy Bethesda being lazy.

yep , it's a well made game , actions have consequences, npc's/companions have moral codes , they arent just follower mules

What woman? I just hailed them and they attacked me.

stun is considered killing in the eyes of NPCS / law / etc. At least, it sure seems that way.
