[SOLVED] Why are mess halls HUGE?
Edit: The 'galleys' in other hab modules actually work for cooking but have odd hitboxes for getting the activation prompt. For example, one counter with an obvious 3-burner cooktop only shows the prompt when you look to the right, where the sink(!) is. Another seems to have only a toaster oven but does work as a complete cooking station. Just ignore the giant espresso machines everywhere :)

To get a stupid stove that works, I'm forced to add a 3x2(!!!!!!) module to my ship with seating for like 20 people and huge wasted space. This is a simply asinine design decision. An entire workshop fits in a 2x1. There are 'cooktops' in most of the normal 2x1 habs (that don't work). Just. Dumb. A ship's galley should have a working cookstation! Of course there are no bunks in the normal habs either. The ship designs are really bad.

How else are we going to invite all of our friends and crewmates to gather around the dinner table for an orbital Chunks barbecue?

Literally every all in one has a stove (they do work I assure you), as do most living quarters IIRC, why are you so set on having a Mess Hall if you think it's a waste of space?

FOr me, the Galley works fine for cooking in the 2x1 Captain's Quarter as well as the 2x1 Living Quarters. The one on the Frontier 2x1 worked fine as well.

Note that if you add Windows, or have door connections, where the Galley is supposed to be it will not be there at least in some hab modules. All of the modules work that way, connections (doors) as well as windows will cause the interior layout for various habs to change, up-to and including some components just being removed.

I have yet to have a hab where there is a galley that does not work. If the Galley is present, I can use it for cooking. If you are experiencing something different, you're either experiencing bugs, or you have mods installed causing you issues.

Looking at the stove top aim a little down and to the Right. Should get the cooking options.

Now if you want to complain. I have only checked the Akilla City Housing but NEITHER Had a working Cook station but they had Stove "Decor". That is infuritating.

I've approached those cooktops a zillion times and never got the prompt. I guess I would say the hitbox size/location is a bug. No mods BTW.

I wish they put a kitchen in the infirmary... It kinda makes sense .
