First time owning a PC with an AMD CPU
Got to say the reboots of my PC every 15 minutes after many hours of play is disheartening.

Thats a PC problem, and for sure has nothing to do with the Game OR the CPU

Update BIOS to newest version.

Make sure OS is not configured to reboot PC in case of BSoD:

Update drivers, try with a bigger PSU.

I've been using AMD CPU's for decades with no problems. Your computer, CPU and/or GPU, is overheating. Get better cooling.

Yeah, if that's happening, that is %100 a hardware issue.

That PC wasn't built properly.

this is starfields fault it's just not immediately clear yet exactly how

Something about your PC is so unsafe that it has to reboot without an error. Go into event viewer and see if any data is available to troubleshoot, like display driver or some other errors during the exact timestamp.

If you only have one error, like "the computer has rebooted because of an error" or something like that then that might be your PSU tripping the protection and causing your PC to reboot before an error is actually logged.

Hot temperature will also cause a reboot because you'll trip the motherboard protection.

There are quite a few reasons your PC could be restarting every 15 minutes, the chance of it being something to do with the game is near zero. You have a hardware issue, you should take steps to diagnose it. Based on what little description you've given, it could be a heat issue, your motherboard is designed to make an emergency shut down in case of critical overheating. Starfield is an unusually CPU-heavy game, this could provide a reason you're noting this issue with Starfield and not with other games, the CPU is also more sensitive to heat than the GPU (also the GPU is assembled as a single unit at manufacturer, making heat issues quite unlikely).

AMD is great in general, you clearly have some hardware issues... sadly, that could be nearly everything... had an issue long time ago, people forgot using thermal paste on cpu / cpu cooler.... first steps, check hardware as far as possible, every cable and connector, then update everything, BIOS, Windows, graphics card driver

Have AMD cpu and game runs fine.

yeah. like others are saying...it aint the BRAND of CPU. your post is a bit thin on detail so all you are going to get is a bunch of wild guesses

AMD CPU or GPU?
Did you put thermal paste on the heatsink if there wasn't paste pre-applied?

AMD R7 5800x. AMD RX 6800. Running in 1440. Runs fine for me. It has crashed a few times and I verified files and found corruption and one time b/c my AIO filter was clogged and my CPU wasn't cooling correctly. It also tends to have Steam cloud issues when exiting the game. Other than that no major problems.
