Burst fire vs semi-automatic
Greetings.

Curious about the 'damage per trigger pull' of burst fire versus semi-automatic for receiver mods.

For example, it says physical damage 52.3 for semi-automatic for a rifle (Drum Beat) I'm messing with, and 35.8 for burst fire, which is 4 shots per trigger pull, it says.

Are those 35.8 damage for each of the 4 shots, so a total of 143.8 dmg when I fire it, please? It has to be, right? So the only drawback with burst fire is that you use 4 times more ammo?

But might have something to do with having less control of the gun with the 'micro-bursts' as well? Single shot best for sniping, perhaps?

Thought I'd bump this since I'm about to have a late night / early morning game session now :lunar2019smilingpig: Gotten way too hooked on this game...

New Nvidia driver was just released, btw, although I think it's mainly a Cyberpunk 2077 related update.

It's likely to be per bullet value, like the Grendel does like 4-5 full auto, 12 ish Burst and 21 ish Semi auto. I prefer semi auto myself on my guns, after that AP mods.. mainly because the damage tend to be more reliable, I save on wasting ammo.. The Beowulf seem the best for that, because it use 7.7 ammo which is easy to drop from enemies, and it make for a great sniper rifle, mine does 150 ish damage with semi auto, it's not the best damage yet, because I need more mod skills to put the better mods.

But it's not the most damaging weapon you can get...

I learned to like burst fire when I got the pistol named Vampire's gift. It is silenced, and shoots burst, with an insane fire rate. You aim for the head, and the burst pumps about four extremely quick rounds in the head, that usually kills the target. Full auto for a weapon with a 150+ rate of fire, will waste a lot of ammo.

There is one more drawback: if this is like other Bethesda games, armor reduces a larger portion of the damage done by light attacks than by heavy attacks (for the other games it's something like: with 50 resistance, a 50 point attack is reduced by 50/(50+50) i.e. half but a 25 point attack is reduced by 50/(50+25) i.e. two thirds.). Also, if it's like the other games, shotguns are a spray of 7 (?) separate simultaneous attacks with a spread that misses more the further away. So, against armored opponents, for example, nominal 200 dps with a spray or shotgun may be less damage than nominal 150 dps with a selective fire weapon.

I was complaining about ammo being so expensive in another topic and people correctly guessed I was weapons with these things.

It turns out due to the extremely nerfed damage per bullet they just aren't very good.

I found a shotgun that occasionally has every single bullet explode and that has been my go-to for now. It's hilarious.

Haha looking forward to trying explosive ammo myself. I've leveled up several skills, but haven't really started modding the weapons until now, and I've several guns with explosive rounds now. But haven't gotten around to trying them yet.

Regarding expensive ammo, that is something I rather like, as I never buy ammo, buy sell it. Also in Fallout games. My main currency :lunar2019smilingpig:

But I came across a very powerful gun that has the name of those Ashta(?) in it, on the planet Sam is from (forgot the name, the western-style / Firefly-vibes town). Very hard to find ammo for that (40mm XPL or something, I think they're called), so I've bought the few rounds I could find for that, which was like 12 rounds...

Otherwise I tend to sell ammo if I have more than a few hundred rounds, since I rarely use 'machine gun style' rapid fire weapons.
