Stealing a landed ship.

I know you can board and steal a ship in space, but what about a ship you find on the ground?

Sometimes you can do it. If you see a ship land while exploring a new POI appears called landing zone. If you can enter the ship you can also steal those. Tested on an Ecliptic ship.

Yes, as long as you have required rank in piloting and it's not marked as "inaccessible", you can steal it.

I recommend ignoring landing party and just going inside to take on the crew. Killing the landing party risks ship leaving.

I already got two ships by this way, one of them was Va'ruun Hymn. So, yes, possible.

I found one ship on the ground. Went inside and killed everyone, but I still wasn't able to pilot it...

You can steal ships landed, but if you shoot everyone outside the ship it will take off, so you will have to board before you kill everyone outside the ship.

Yes, but if your piloting skill isn't maxed out be careful. There is a chance that it will launch into space with you on it and if you can't fly it then it becomes your coffin. No fast travel available.

Ohh yes. Thats how i get my ships. Drop down on a planet and look for landing sites.

Andraphon i swear everytime you land another ship lands shortly after. You can sneak aboard any of the faction ships and steal it you just need high piloting and high lockpicking.

Ive boarded a ship while it was in take off and it just gave me a load screen and i was back to killing the crew in space. Took it, landed it at my outpost, and its yours

There is some random involved.
For example if you have "Wanted" trait gmae will spawn Eclipse ships sometimes even on a planet. Those shops are not allowed to board.
Also sometimes you will find a smugglers ship, those also can't be highjacked.
So basically it's about 50/50% the game will allow to steal a ship (even with piloting lvl 4).

I found a ship on the ground not far from my moon base on bessel III-b but I wasn't able to take it.

I thought maybe because I didn't have the class b or c piloting perks.

I went back after getting the perks so I can take even class c ships but it still says I don't have permission or more specifically "YOU ARE NOT AUTHERIZED TO PILOT THIS SHIP".

And I have all 4 perks in piloting so class C or not I should be able to take the ship.

*in case it's specific ships this one is a UC VANGUARD RAPTOR.

If I can't steal it can I at least destroy it because it's wasting ship landing areas around my outpost.

On my character that is focusing on the science tree I found a Var'uun ship whose ground crew had taken over a facility that had turrets and robots they where fighting. I saw the hatch was accessible so I went on board oddly there was only one crew member still on it. I stunned him with EM jumped in the pilot seat and took off. The crew member got up when the EM wore off then fell through the ship floor into space or maybe back on to the planet.
