First Contact quest is so awful
The premise is very interesting a fun. But from the moment i started talking to them it felt off. Hollow if you will like the path is so set in stone that you cannot learn anything or do anything. I'm not asking for branching quest but more like giving them obvious information they might want to know. I know bethesda makes your the chosen one games, but they could idk just board my ship and we go there together instead of letting a total stranger dictate the rest of their remaining lives. Let alone the choices you have are complete stupid. So we just assume the patent for colonization has been lost and not just buried in bureaucracy would be nice for a 4th option to dig for the files and give them right to the planet, then make the hotel a if you will "native reserve". There have been tons of fun quests but also a few that are like this. How do you guys feel about it?

I was disappointed as well I thought there were possible options that should have been addressed like Tourist planet 200 year old spaceship that successfully traveled the vast distance without the tech. Research center and museum should have been an obvious choice. Not to mention the heritage plants they would have on board not contaminated by all the obvious warfare that has happened since the ship left earth. The colonist seem to be viewed as a burden by the colony instead of the massive opportunity for a one of a kind attraction on what has already been deemed a tourist planet. You could even leave the ship in orbit and do tours providing even more economic benefits to the system. Instead only options seem to be enslavement or slap new tech in the antique and send them on their way. A historic society also documenting the colonists journey would also have massive benefits for the tourist industry. Also I believe that they could have been given autonomy to govern themselves elsewhere while maintaining a new attraction for the Hotel. The whole grow to fill the whole planet thing was a little silly considering the Grav drive invention which means next solar system is just a hop and skip away which I assume that once the settlers realize this there concerns about people already being there would be assuaged.

Both sides were too reasonable. We know human beings don't react that way.

"why not settle on the other side of the planet?"

"NO WE WANT THE WHOLE PLANET"

"why not let them settle on the other side of the planet?"

"ONLY IF THEY BECOME SLAVES"

yeah, both sides were super reasonable.

and then suddenly, after you force them to take a grav drive that YOU pay for and tell them to ♥♥♥♥ off, they're all nice nice and "wow what a great solution!"

typical humans. only happy when someone else does the work.

It's not awful to me, but more a prime example of typical Bethesda writing. To me that means lots of potential, but generally no real attempt (or ability) to think things through beyond the surface thoughts of, "Hey, wouldn't it be cool if..."

In general, if you enjoy Bethesda games you have to be able to look past that. Plenty of people can't, and I totally understand that.
