I boarded an Ecliptic Stiletto that attacked me, but it seems to have no cockpit?

So I destroyed its engines, boarded it, and there's nothing inside. There are two small levels connected with a ladder. The top level looks like storage, and it has access to my ship at the top, and the bottom level only has a permanently closed door to the landing bay. No cockpit entrance anywhere, and no Ecliptic mercs to defeat. There's nothing to do, and no way to steal the ship.

I reloaded an earlier save, got into the same Ecliptic encounter, and again boarded their ship. Nothing changed. The only mod I'm using is StarUI.

Is it a bug, or am I missing something important?

If there are no doors anywhere you can interact with (make sure your scanner is off) then I guess it must have just generated the ship wrong.

Check every wall just to make sure you did not miss a door or hatch.

Yes, I made sure my scanner was off, and there was no door. I had a quest activity "kill the crew" or something (it normally appears after boarding a ship) and when I set it as active, it showed the position of the crew as somewhere behind one of the walls, with no way to reach them. The wall definitely didn't have any door in it.

I hope my game didn't bug out completely, and next time I board a ship it will work.
