Starfield Only uses 7.5 GB RAM?

Hey,

so no matter what i do in game, even going from Luna to New Atlantis and running through the City (So there is actually some load on the memory) the game never uses more than 7.5 GB of RAM according to Taskmanager. I have seen videos where people had 12+ GB RAM usage floating in space.

Anyone knows why that might be?

well if you want stuff to use more ram i suggest disabling memory compression, you don't even need it when you have 32gb ram

It's been around 15 GB for me. I've seen it spike above 16GB now and then.

mine uses 6.4 gb ram
its crazy when it was pointed outr last week that it only uses 6

Everything on Max and 1920 x 1080

Probably because I wasn't answering your question.

I have no idea why your game, on your computer only uses 7.5.

The game doesn't cache a lot of things. It just continuously accesses the disk for the same objects, which is why it requires an ssd.

what advantage is there in turning off compression other than less cpu load? CPU isnt an issue, i am running a i9 10900X

This has todo with the internal speeds between cpu ram and gpu. Your machine clearly has a quicker one then most of us.

why do the min requirements state 16 GB then? isn't that a bit overkill for min.?
